explorer 1016 question for those in the know
despite trawling the internet for the answer, I still have no definitive year for when the 'frog foot' crown started on the 1016 explorer. Does any one know?

I don't know, but the VRF dial archive has numerous references with serials, so you could look for a trend/starting point/serial range.

Wow that's surprising! I've tried to find a nice chronology on that model in the past as well with no luck. Maybe someone will put one together?!

I keep seeing 67/68 1016s with the frog foot dial, but more without, so one or the other must be later re-dials. Maybe. There doesn't appear to be a definitive list, as there is with the 5513 dials.
