Help Broken Mont Blanc

So I dropped my pen today and it broke in 2 places. Looked on ebay and it seems I should just throw this away and buy a new one. Prices for parts are high. Anyone have suggestions?

I believe mb controls parts like rolex does. In other words parts are over priced on the secondary market. You can have mb rebuild it for far cheaper than the parts, I surmise.

Yes! Don't throw it away.

I shattered my MB BP and sent it off to MB after calling them. I was told the entire repair cost would be $60.00, but when I received the pen back the charge was $0.00 and they paid the shipping! A pleasant surprise. They also included some gifts like extra polishing cloths.

Give them a call, ask for an estimate, and ask them where to send it.

For assistance please call the following number from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST Monday through Friday and 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM EST on Saturday,

You are a Lucky guy!

For the less Lucky guys: MB use fixed prices for each level of service.
If I were you just give them a call (boutique not a authorised dealer)

Agree, just call or go into a boutique and they will definitely help you out. I had a cap with an engraving that cracked open and they replaced it with the same engraving for under $100.

You can take it into a Boutique but they will have to send it to MontBlanc Corporate for repair. So I would suggest you take Richard's advise and call the Corporate number, he supplied, and save yourself some time. Unless you live close to a Boutique and were planning to go there anyways…..

Call them direct. The boutique unless it's new will make you pay. Contacting them direct has been a far better pleasurable experience for me. The only downside is you pay the shipping directly to them.

Really sorry to see this. Ouch!

Hope you manage to get it resolved relatively inexpensively.

Leo had warned me about this possibility before I ordered mine.

I'd like to add my recent MB repair experience to this thread.

Ten years ago I deceided to polish my sterling silver pin stripe using a high speed buffing wheel and jewelers rouge. It went well until I melted the plastic cap/top. I wish I could blame global warming for the snow cap melting incident, but it was my own stupidity.

Embarrassed, I tossed it into the safe where it's remained for the last decade with other unused but valuable items. Recently I decided to inventory and organize the safe's contents and "discovered" some treasures which included the damaged Meisterstuck.

I contacted the Mont Blanc North America at 800-995-4810. A nice lady detailed the repair estimate procedure and provided the mailing address for the repair facility in Ft. worth, Texas. About a week after MB received my pen I received a written estimate and a request for payment information which I approved and provided. The repaired and polished pen was returned to me about a week later.

The top was replaced along with the twist mechanism at no charge, but I was charged a flat rate service fee of $94.00, return shipping of $10.00, and sales tax of 7.71. Obviously this pen was worth the cost to repair and YMMV.

Sorry to hear, hope u got it sorted out.
It's actually sad that when u drop 400+ dollars on MB pens they crack like egg shells..
I don't own any MB's anymore for this reason.
To each his own but no more for me.
I now use Karas Kustoms aluminum or copper pens, may not have the cache of MB but they are tough and look pretty nice...

I write with a MB Thomas Mann writer series pen daily in the OR and unfortunately have dropped that pen many times. My pen just exploded for the 2nd time and it is currently being sent back to Germany for repairs. The other time it cost me $150 or so and took a few months as those limited edition pens sometimes requires fabrication of parts.

So don't just throw it away. Many times with the more common models, they have parts at their boutiques and repairs are done while you wait.

Very true Saw.

Remember guys. The more rare / expensive / uncommon the MB pen the more it $$$ it will take to fix it.
