To Mexico or not?
Leaving for Cabo San Lucas in the morning. Do I wear my GMT IIc (its insured) or not. My wife says I will have a few to many and fall down and scratch it all up or that I will have a lot to many and just lose it. What do you think?

Mexico or not ?
I was there over March break on family vacation. Upper end resort. Saw only 1 other Rolex. The guy had the full gold blue sub date. Also had a bodyguard looking over him and other Columbian gentlemen. I left mine in the safe at home. Going on day trips and stuff glad I didnt bring it. Just had this feeling that my TT blue sub would pay for a lot of things the local people did not have. And if you're going to be cocktailing then just as well leave it home. Makes coming home to it all the more rewarding.

Bring the watch, leave the guilt. I just got back from Cabo and there is no threat. OTOH- If you are going to get so drunk that you will fall down and pass out in the gutter, then leave it at home. Otherwise bring it...and yes, you can go swimming in the pool and the Ocean with it.

I've been to Cabo a number of times and I always wear a Rolex.
If you stay in the resort areas, I have never felt threatened. If you get off the beaten path, you never know....but that is probably true of your home town.

I would leave it at home can never know what can happen that watch can attract a lot of attention. They just might raise the price on everything for you if they see you have that kind watch, that's my two cents. Enjoy your trip down there

I wear my Rolex every time I travel in my home country (USA), but no longer take it out of country since a little "incident" we had with what we suspect were fake police in Budapest in 1993.

Take it and enjoy. The fact that is is insured should give you some comfort. Just make sure to take some snaps.

I used to wear my Rolex everywhere I went. Now I wear the Omega, as it's my travel watch. GMT watches are to travel with.

I would take the receipt with me just in case the US customs decide to give you a hard time. I have heard horrible stories.

Now watches are for wearing, i have a GMT IIc and i wear mine everywhere, i know there a valuable item, but you cant enjoy your GMT if its in a box not letting the Lumina soak up the UV in mexico!! Let it breathe, get a little splishy splashy, and watch it glow as you grip the Tequila glass!!
Enjoy your vacation, and have two fingers of tequila for me!!
