Great.. Now non of my other(non rolex) watches get wrist time.

Okay so to cut this short. Have been collecting many watches, flipping them, etc for many years.
My watches range from $500-$4000(Seiko, Hamilton, Tissot, Omega, Tag, Breitling, few more). I wanted to pull the trigger on a Rolex I have had my eyes on for the longest time, and so I got the GMT II LN, which is obviously my most expensive watch.

I can't help but not give any wrist time to any of my other watches;
I really don't think I will be wearing them ever, or very very rarely if at all.
I know this sounds silly but I don't want to wear my Tissot or Seiko or Omega when I own and love my Rolex and can be sporting that.

Seriously considering selling my other watches to buy another rolex.

Less is more I guess..

You are not the first to sell the rest I think.
This is why I have only Rolex watches.

Good for you man. I shall soon follow.
I really don't see myself wearing any of the other watches anymore.
My Omega is very old; the breatling does not even sing to me anymore, and the rest I am certain will not come close anymore after wearing the Rolex.

I have reconsidered and would like to have a maximum of 4/5 watches.
I want a Hublot I have my eyes on, and the rest will just be Rolexes, maybe an AP to end it down the line.
No more big collections.

We have all been there, that said the pattern is not just about Rolex it is a case of when you move in to a new category often you don't want to wear a cheaper watch. I have sold out of 7 watches and into 6 different ones over 15 months, some were Rolex that left, but I now have the combination as I want it.

This.

I had a beautiful Omega POC that got zero wrist time after my 1st Rolex and never felt the same about it after wearing the Rolex, so px'd it for another Rolex & couldn't be happier!!!

I don't think I'd ever buy another brand of watch apart from Rolex now, there are plenty of other watches I like & admire but putting money into them is another thing altogether!

Fair enough. I still would love the Hublot I have my eyes on, possibly an AP RO as well eventually.
I simply can't wear a cheaper watch though or a Fasion brand etc knowing my rolex or AP etc is at home in the safe.
I will definitely mostly have rolexes though. Hopefully will be able to call it a day after my third.

Same thing happened to me. I wore my Tag Searacer every day, every where for about 10 years straight, absolutely loved it - that is until I got my Yacht-Master.

After that I just never wanted to put the Tag back on, knowing the Yacht-Master was home in a drawer.. just seemed like a waste.

I won't sell my Tag, only because I won't get much for it ($600-800?) and it was a gift from my wife who was my girlfriend at the time. If I had multiple like you, I'd certainly sell the majority of them, and only keep the ones that have special meaning to you, or that you won't get much for.

Good luck, and congrats

I guess this isn't very uncommon.
Congrats on the Y/M. Also a stunning watch.
The only watch that had any sentimental value was my Omega A/T given to me by me ex gf, which I would not mind selling anymore.
I am considering selling the ones that will not give me much, because I figure getting some money is better than having a watch I will never wear.

This sounds silly but why wear any of the others when I can wear my rolex?
Want to nail my collection down to just a few pieces that will make me happy regardless of which I wear.

Thanks!

In that case yeah I'd definitely sell them if I were you, you can probably sell them off and have enough for another Rolex :)

Some people can put their Rolex away and enjoy their other watches. But I agree with you, I'd rather wear and enjoy mine. Quality, not quantity!!

Absolutely will do it.
I have my eyes on a Hublot Classic fusion which I want to get with the money I get from selling my current watches. One of the most beautiful watches I have seen.
Then comes probably the Daytona.
I really see it differently. I would much rather a few expensive good watches that I love, rather than many in quantity.

Will post back updates as they come!

Definitely a common problem I think. Part of my justification to my wife when I bought the Sub was that it will be essentially free once I sell off my collection. I wear my Sub everyday and all my others have sat in their winders. I have been planning to sell them but yesterday I got out my Oris Big Crown and thought, wow, this is really a great watch. Then I took out my Hamilton and my Edox, etc. Now, I can't imagine not wearing a Rolex, but it sure is hard to let the others go.

So it happened to me...

Got my first one (BLNR) 7 months ago and now, 1 week ago, the Sub LVc

Still have a beautiful Omega Seamaster 300M Blue Ceramic, a Tag Carrera Heritage and a Bell & Ross WW1-92 (Plus, sold my beloved IWC Portuguese Chrono) and I SIMPLY SIMPLY don`t want to wear them anymore. I keep winding and winding but that's all. My attention now only goes to my two Rolex.

Many won't agree with me but regarding quality, I don't see the big gap between them ! Actually, my Tag is the most accurate of all ! Sharp as quartz watch !! Finishing is perfect with all of them. The thing is: I just don't feel the "magical effect" wearing any of my non Rolex watches anymore (even if it was a more expensive one). With my GMT and SUB, I'd like to wear both at the same time if I could... Just like Fidel Castro

I had a similar issue, but I had about 18 mid-expensive watches between $500-1500. I sold a few and helped fund number 2 below. For the ones that had special meaning I have given them to family members. Once you get a watch as nice as a Rolex, the others really do suffer for wrist love.

As some others have said, I want to get to 4 watches. (alas I'm still at 9)

However, there is a place for my quartz Tissot T Touch: I wear it when doing yardwork or wrenching on a car, etc. Yes, I know my Sea Dweller is a tool watch and can stand up to anything, but I just don't want it looking abused. It's special. It was my first Rolex, and I want it to stay that way. Also look at all the questions on TRF about people worrying about traveling with their Rolex. A Tissot, Seiko or GShock does have a place in these conditions too. Don't sell 'em all!

For me my ultimate 4 watch rotation:
1. Seadweller (have)
2. Pre-Moon vintage Speedmaster (have)
3. Vintage GMT (looking)
4. JLC Reverso (one day...for a dress watch)

and a beater Seiko or Tissot, etc. OK...technically it's 5, but that's it. I swear. And the 5th doesn't really count does it?

Chris

Same here. I started with several Omegas, but then after trying a Rolex, I now have all Rolex except the moon watch, which I don't wear much but just can't let go of because it was my first decent watch and it's a classic.
