Icon4 BEWARE: Someone (evidently out of China) has created a FAKE TRF Website - BEWARE!

Just came across this very recently created FAKE Rolex Forums Website:

http://www.rolex*******forums.com/index.php

Looks like they have copied much of the Forum look and somehow have imported much of the content.

Look carefully, if somehow you find yourself THERE instead of here!

Listed in this category for maximum visibility!

Perhaps making this a STICKY might be a good idea, until such time as someone figures out how to have it removed and the domain name transferred to TRF Administration so as to keep it out of circulation for others to misuse in the future.

Warn your friends!

My initial post immediately showed up on the FAKE site, so somehow they are able to mirror TRF onto their fake site. Scary.....

This is disgusting! Should be careful whenever one is looking to have some money transactions. Beware not to wire money to the wrong seller!

Is it possible to shut down the site?

Wow... This poses a large security threat.

Whomever made that site was able to import TRF's database. I'm sure this hasn't gone unnoticed by TRF admins.

Lock her down boys!

Earlier today I tried to log on to the site and everything was all wonky with missing text and categories. Ten minutes later all was back to normal, I am pretty sure the site was hacked sometime midday.

I do agree as far as the possibility of negative perpetuation here, however this does look pretty bad and I feel like as many members as possible should be aware of this and take extra care in logging in at least for the next couple weeks. My rather layman advice would be for people to not log in after following links, always go to TRF by typing in the full address and not rely on auto pupulate histories, etc.

If so, Tyl3r, then hopefully a moderator will remove it. Whatever is best for TRF is what I want. Thank you for sharing your opinion, and again, I hope a Moderator, or Steve, will do whatever is in the best interest of TRF, including removing this post, if need be!

Please don't take my post the wrong way. I definitely appreciate you looking out as do the other members I'm sure. However, before your post, nobody knew about the website. They probably would never have found themselves on that website. There is a good possibility after clicking the link, somebody may forget they have left the legitimate TRF and will try to log onto the fake website. The website has the ability to steal account usernames and passwords to scam members in the future. I would remove the website domain from your first post and advise members to look twice that they are on the correct domain when logging in and buying something off of this forum.

Tyl3r, nothing taken the wrong way! I appreciate your post, and a different way of looking at things. I decided to post this thread, in case that site was set up as some sort of scammer site, where they would respond to buy or sell threads, with a LINK that took one to THAT site, and since it looks so close, maybe folks would have been subject to a scam. Not sure what (if any) scam that could end up being, but I figured being aware that it now exists could be a good thing, safety wise. I think stealing user names and passwords could be one BIG reason they created that site. Not sure why they added FAKE though, versus making it a clean copy. Hard to get into the minds of these internet scammers, though. maybe they benefit from the traffic it can/will generate, once google picks them up. Again, I appreciate your comments, and hopefully, if this thread is NOT in out best interest, Rob, Steve, or another Moderator will remove it!

doubtful. The link doesn't work. The site isn't an exact copy. it has a purposeful url that is different and it's added "Fake" to almost all mentions of "rolex". e.g. they could have made it exact with less effort. I've seen this before and it that case it was an SEO play "scraping" and not a personal info grab.

Pretty sharp... it automatically pulls posts from TRF and populates them in its threads.

Since it's able to mirror everything is it possible signing in on the correct site could mirror your login and password right to the hackers?

Yes, that is what I suspect. It could be a phishing website.
