Book reading suggestions
As I look at pictures of the pallet fork, I notice the asymmetry in the distance
Of the 2 pallet jewels (entry and exit) from the pallet pivot. All of the pictures I have seen are depicted this way. Don't know if this is artifactual or real. Could/would it make any difference in the impulse given to the balance wheel. Maybe too much time in my hands. Need some reading book suggestions from those in the know to quench my curiosity or to put me to sleep. TIA Ed Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

There's currently a Watchmaking 101 course being offered at the Upper West Side, taught by one of my friends. Maybe you should look into that. No previous experience or knowledge required.

My Aha moment..... Introducing the Equidistant escapement, the Circular escapement, and the Compromise escapement. The first one with advantage of similar unlocking force between the entry/exit pallet but with different impulse force from the entry/exit pallet jewel. The second one with different unlocking force but with similar impulse force. The third one tries to minimize both and a compromise between the first and the second. Source: " A Course in Wristwatch Repair, The Gruen Horological Text and Technical Bulletins " A nice book and reading with plenty of tech stuff. Vanessa, thanks for the suggestion. I will take advantage of that since it is About 40 minutes away from me. It fully booked pretty far in advance...LOL. Lots of enthusiast. Cheers. Ed Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
