DJ 2 Smooth Bezel --- torn between white or silver dial

Hi everyone,

I've been deliberating lately on getting a Datejust 2 with the smooth bezel and am torn at the moment between the white and silver dials (both stick dials by the way).

My concern, if I get the silver dial (which looks awesome in my opinion), is that I already have a silver dialed dress watch (a JLC) and perhaps there might be some redundancy, but then again, shouldn't I just get what I like? I like the way the white sticks look on the silver background.

I also like the white as it looks very casual and could probably be worn with anything.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I like the silver stick dial. The white is very nice too, but the starburst appearance of the silver is more interesting.

That's a tough call. I think I would probably go Silver dial.
I do love the white dial too though.

I just went through the EXACT same analysis. At the end of the day, after spending time at the AD and then ordering from DavidSW, went with....SILVER STICK DIAL....and it is awesome. The dial is simply stunning, moved to the top of my list, reminds me of my Hulk in so many ways, but classy and conservative, yet sophisticated and perfect with suit or casual wear. I found the white to ultimately be kind of boring and the 41mm dial felt even bigger in the white.

Really, I cannot recommend the silver dial strongly enough, it is so fantastic. Even my wife commented tonight at dinner how cool it was, her words, so retro like a 60's rolex, yet so modern. The sunburst on it really takes it to another level above the white. I will try to post pic in a few....

My DJ II SS Silver Dial. I chose silver for the DateJust II because it is a bigger dial than the DateJust - 41mm vs 36mm. I thought a white dial on a bigger watch was a bit too much. The silver dial is a bit more understated on the larger watch. Also, I love how the silver dial shimmers no matter what size it is. But either way you will not make a bad decision!

tough call. But if I had no other white face, I'd do the white. It's just so crisp. You need to see in person, pics are tough to go by.

I'd go with blue but since blue isn't in one of your choices then it's silver.

Gotta go with the silver dial. It has an elegant shine that gives the watch more life.

Both are great looking dials. If legibility is an issue it seems that the white dial is somewhat easier to read but probably not enough to make a difference if you're hot for the silver dial. Either way you're going to have a stunning watch. Good luck.

I had the EXACT SAME dilemma, and I went back and forth between the two. I opted for the white because it just "popped" more and I loved how the white really stood out on the watch. The silver dial just blended in too much with the watch. The white is really clean, crisp, and just right IMO.

Investr expressed it well. Last month, I almost bought the silver DJ2 because I loved the colour and the classic look. However, since I have two silver dial watches that I rarely wear because they're hard to read, I didn't buy the silver DJ2.

I am currently looking for a white DJ or DJ2. I find them elegant and easy to read.

Have fun shopping for a watch that sings to you.

I say get what you like, who cares about diversity, it's nice but only when you love the piece, if you prefer silver dial go silver even if you already have a silver dial watch...

White was my choice. The silver might be difficult to read in the sun. The white is very easy to read in all conditions and it's perfect dressed up or down.

For me, the silver goes so well with the smooth polished bezel.

This. I would get white with the fluted bezel.

Bumping this thread....still haven't decided but I think I'm close to the silver dial. I'm just a bit hesitant because I already have a silver dialed JLC Master Control (I know, two totally different watches, but still). Although I'm really in love with the sunburst pattern on the silver DJ2. I'm set to purchase one by next week, any last thoughts would still be very much welcome....

I'd go silver too then or blue on smooth, nothing like a Rolex sunburst dial IMHO. White dial but on fluted would be my choice for more visual interest.

Silver. The sunburst dials always get me.
White is sportier but if I'm going with a white dial, I'm going Polar.
