Negotiating s New but 2006 Model, No Day-Date Men's Steel and Gold

Dear Rolex Enthusiasts,

I have located a men's steel and gold without the day-date feature of the newer models. It is a new watch but likely a 2006 model. There is quite a price differential between the comparable newer model with the day and/or date feature. I rather prefer the older model because it is a little smaller, and I don't feel compelled to having the date shown on my watch. Nevertheless, it is my sense that 99% of Rolex purchasers want the newer model, which is why the dealer has a few of these older models in their network of stores. Thus, I would like to negotiate the best possible price. The watch will be a steel and gold men's with a white dial and Roman numerals. The price quoted is $5,900. Around where would you bid on the watch. I am thinking about bidding $4,000.

Warmly, Alan
