Spanner in the works - Bye bye GMT? HELP

So this is my collection

This is the problem (if you can call it that)

- This is incoming in a few months

-and I am falling for this

-and calling a few dealers about getting this - Not immediately but somewhere down the line

I have to get rid of a few watches to make space, I don't believe in owning watches that don't get wrist time. Currently the IWC is new so getting a lot of wear, the SubC is my holiday watch and daily "beater" the Speedy again is very versatile and I don't want to sell that as it was a gift. The date just is now my Wife's so can't sell that The Reverso is for weddings, formal meetings/with a suit and It is an icon and I do like the idea of keeping a Reverso in the collection.

That unfortunately leaves the GMT : I don't really use the GMT complication ( I travel aprox be 4 times a year on holidays so don't need to track different zones) I love the look, the colour and history of the Pepsi GMT, its even got a recent service... but its the odd one out.

So sell the GMT or let it live in the safe?

Sell it and make room for something you'll have more feeling for. I have sold or given away five watches since Xmas for the same reason. Only have four left but I sure do love those four! Working towards something I have never had..a Bluesy Sub. It'll be #5 but if I don't wear it and love it then I will sell that as well after a while. Sell it even if you have mixed feelings for it. If you find you miss it after all , you can always find something similar too. Watches are meant to be enjoyed ,not put away in a safe.

Hi,

If I am not mistaking (looking at your collection so far), keeping the GMT will not have a big impact on your daily financial obligations.
I would keep the GMT, it brings a nice touch of color to the collection.

I have had a few of them, and I have never lost a penny on reselling them. They retain their value very well.

So, keep it if you can.
If there is absolutely no love, let it go

Good luck deciding and congrats on that gorgeous Nautilus that is on the way

Sell it. You'll get color with the Pelagos and 5711. The 5711 is awesome!

I'd also get rid of the IWC.

If you plan on getting a Patek on leather, you may not wear the Reverso anymore. I do prefer the reverso over the Patek though.

Within 12 months, you will have the Nautilus a Dress Patek, a sub or GMT for your beater/holiday watch and the DJ for the wife.... the others will all be gone due to no wrist time....... I have been there myself, once you get your first high end piece, the others go and you reset your criteria.
Agree with these guys, everything will start to change for you.

Without even looking at your conundrum, I voted for keeping the GMT which was then reaffirmed after reading the post

Your collection is perfect the way it is. If you sell the GMT it will be less perfect.

Your logic is sound, I probably prefer the look of the Pepsi over the Sub so I would be tempted to move the sub on not the GMT, the GMT will do enough for diving if that is why the sub is the holiday watch, particularly if you are thinking of adding a blue pelagos. I think you will be happy with the Blue of the PP, so that may never happen particularly with my next comment.

My personal belief when the Nautilus arrives the rest will get little wrist time and the IWC will be on the block as will the reverso (the Patek is enough dress/sport for all needs). You are about to go through high end metamorphis I predict. Within 12 months, you will have the Nautilus and your predicted Dress Patek, a sub or GMT (whichever you keep) for your beater/holiday watch and the DJ for the wife.... the others will all be gone due to no wrist time....... I have been there myself, once you get your first high end piece, the others go and you reset your criteria.

I have to agree. I've been spending very little time on IWC, JLC, Omega, forums since putting the money down for the PP. It's mostly the PP forum and the rolex now. The psychology behind this is very intriguing

Keep the GMT and wear it, don't "let it live in a safe!"

I just don't like PPs all that much so I'd keep the GMT.

Sell it, no point keeping it if you never enjoy it.

Keep the GMT Pepsi. You will regret it if you sell. Lose the Omega and IWC. you won't even look at them once the Nautilus gets there.
Whoever gave the omega will understand. Omega never holds value. Pepsi not only holds but increases over time. Do Not Sell.

Sell in haste, repent in leisure!

Hold on to it for now, until you actually need to make a decision and then sell if you have to. It will hold its value, may even increase a touch and will sell easily.

My guess is you'll keep it

great collection as is

i believe if you don't wear it, it should go…

the jlc will compete with the Patek calatrava for dress, so imho that should also be considered at the time.
