Hello all,

This is my first post to the forum, so I apologize for any missteps here. I have two vintage Rolex Explorers in hand. Looks like production from 1967-68. They are not for sale, but I am trying to determine if there is an extra or intrinsic value to the pair because they were originally bought together in the late 60's, and they have sequential serial numbers. I have seen plenty of Rolex's, but never two that were sequential serial numbers like this. Any insight into whether this is added value or not is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Could be - pretty unusual though yuou would be limiting yourself to a small subset of buyers if you were to sell.

Would love top see how 2 sequential Explorers have aged through the last nearly 50 years.

I think it's more of a cool factor than adding value to the watches, because you'd need to keep them together for the sequential serial numbers to mean anything. It's interesting, though. I always wondered if the next serial numbers of Rolexes were the same model or something completely different. Can you post photos showing the watches and the serial numbers, at least the beginning of them?

I can't imagine the sequential numbers mean the value appreciates, unless some twins wanted them, in the same order they were born, maybe...

They have definitely worn differently. The Dad's is much more worn than his sons, but both are very worn. The son's is the one with the original band still. I have attached pictures. I didn't realize how hard it is to take a picture of the serial #'s side by side. They end in 61 and 62, but the 1 is not the clearest in the picture. Thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated and a help!

It seems that it doesn't take much to make a difference in value with things that get collected and Rolex is an area of collecting where this is especially true. Coming up with a formula is near impossible for figuring out "how much" and that is where auctions come into play.

I can't help but to believe this pair of watches would sell above what 2 similar but not sequential would. There is always going to be someone who would be willing to step up.

A rare pair ! Two of the same with such serials !!!! At the same ownership. IMO it is of some value, as long as they stay together.

My 5513 has 2-3 digits difference with another 5513 owned by another member here. I'll try to find the pm we exchanged.

And an idea

Should we declare the serials of our watches to an admin (for safety / secrecy not in the public) for them to sort them and see if more as such are there within the members ?

If "Yes", admin please advice and set the principles.

Wow this is very rare... I doubt there are many, if any, people that own two back to back produced Rolexes in any decade
These are almost Siamese twins... Do not separate them lol
