Pvd Sub
Hi everyone
Saw this on a well known auction site: Item number: 350058835132 I try not to harvest negative thoughts, but when I saw this I just thought "WHY?!" It's like buying the Mona Lisa & drawing a moustache & glasses on her. The caseback looks appalling- like some bizarre action man watch. Surely not a preferred choice among watch collectors...?

Tony, I would agree with you 100 percent on this one (although it's a GMT II, not a Sub )!
At the end of the day, though, it all comes down to personal tastes and preferences. One thing is for sure, however: RSC won't touch this modified Rolex. Or RSC watchmakers MIGHT agree to service it, but they'd bring it back to original specs, and it won't come cheap! You can read more about the "Pro Hunter" series on bjsonline. There also exist "Pro-Hunter" SD's and Sub Dates, btw.

Any good watchmaker can service it. If I want a PVD watch I would get a Victorinox Dive Master 500 LE like Robert (Astcell) recently acquired. It was very nice Sean

I think the PVD treatment takes a fine up-scale watch and turns it into a Casio clone....

I say, let people do whatever they want to their own watch.

My first impression was, "That's awful." But live and let live. You buy it, you can make it ugly, I guess.
That caseback engraving, though, is still awful. |
