A very, very painful lesson...
Last week I found a watch that I wanted to buy on watchrecon.com. I contacted the seller and began negotiation. Meanwhile, I checked him out - was a highly regarded seller here on TRF, so I went ahead and completed the deal.
Much to my chagrin, the "highly regarded seller" was a scam artist who was posing under the name of someone here on TRF. I thought I had done my homework to make sure I was dealing with someone above board... but I got screwed... now I'm out a chunk of change and feel like an . Please, PLEASE be double sure of who you're dealing with before you make a purchase... this one felt as good as it could... but he was smarter than I... and now I've got to start the long process to see if I have any kind of recourse.

I am really sorry to hear this. If there is any place to get assistance in seeking recourse, this is the place. My heart goes out to you. Not to be trite, but please don't beat yourself up over this. It could happen to anyone.

The same guy has been posting on watchuseek and watchnet.
If I've never done a deal with someone, I'll usually double check by sending a PM to their forum accounts to confirm their identity. |

Sickening. I don't do anything monetary online and it seems my 'paranoia' is well-founded. I'm sure others appreciate the heads up and will be compelled to exercise extra caution. I hope things work out for you.

Sorry to hear this. I keep all the trusted sellers I've dealt with on my cell for safety reason. Heard too many stories of someone posting as someone else.

That is terrible, I feel for your loss. This matter of fraud sicks me to the stomach, I hope that you get some resolve by reporting to the authorities, in hopes to recover your loss and have that individual apprehended.
On another thread I read past week, the OP also got scammed. He fell for a 14060M priced too good to be true, the scammer used someone's photos of the watch and posted fake references, also posted the same sale on different boards to fake believe this is the on going price for the watch. http://www.network54.com/Forum/73792...No+date+14060M Be careful and exercise common sense, when something is too good to be true, it is too good to be true. On another note, maybe we should compile a sticky data base of known fraudsters as reference?

There were signals, I just didn't pick them up. Gosh, feel like a fool...
* poor english in the emails. * was in a hurry to "close the deal." * changed the wire account from where he wanted them to go initially due to a "funds transfer delay." * Wanted a copy of the wired funds transaction receipt. Man, I should have trusted my instincts!! Trust yours!

$3800. And the bank is a bank I've been a member of for 25 years... without a single incident. I'm confident they'll take care of me - but they don't need to. I was the fool here.
