Hey guys!

What's your opinion on this watch? I'm looking to buy. It's a 1998 model with a new bezel and just polished.

For a few more bucks you can buy one with gold all the way through the buckle and solid end links. If that does not bother you I say go for it. I would also make sure the new gold bezel is made by Rolex and not aftermarket.

Would expect it was just the bezel insert was changed..

Agree, a couple of years later and you get one with gold thru clasp.

How's the bracelet? It looks like it is stretched? Maybe it's just the pictures. I agree with what Clark said about getting a full gold with solid end links. Up to you though.

I've had mine for 18 years and counting. Get it. Mine is a T serial 1996 model I bought new from an AD.

I would strongly consider getting one with gold all the way through the clasp because if you ever went to sell it, a dealer would penalize you for not having that (i.e. most people want the improved one with gold through the clasp). Just look at ebay and you will see sellers mentioning "gold through the clasp."

Thank you all for the replys. I was also thinking about the clasp, but the pre owned Rolex market in Norway is very narrow, so it's not too many Gold/steel subs for sale.

Personally I would take this over the later version.I had the later model and the gold on the clasp is a scratch magnet.It is also wafer thin,so not much for future polishing.The pressed end links can also be more comfortable compared to solid endlinks,depending on the shape of your wrist.

looks pretty good, not overpolished in any sense. if the price is right get it, but as others have said examples with a full gold line through the clasp can be found for not a whole lot more
