Biggie Smalls watch for sale on ebay, for real?

What do you experts think? It looks fake to me, specially the cyclops mag, but I don't know.

Yeah, just look at the sellers feedback he has sold nothing above 50 bucks and then all of a sudden he has a 59,000 watch for sale. Yeah, right!

It could be legit and I bet it is. Just because the seller doesn't have a massive and impeccable eBay history doesn't mean he is lying. Some people don't run their life around buying and selling on eBay. The story about how he acquired the watch sounds totally plausible.

Obviously this is something you would buy only in a face to face transaction which the seller suggests in the shipping and payment notes. When buying items owned by famous people, especially high priced items, you never do a totally online transaction. You always have the item inspected by a 3rd party.

Now about how the watch looks.....yeah it's hideous. The hands are disgusting. But I suspect someone buying this will not actually wear it unless they are in the rap/hip hop business.

Chris1974 - did you take a good look at the watch? Did you see how off-center the Date is?

This story also has floated with different iterations of what vehicle this was traded in on...

day looks wrong to me but it could be the way the diamonds were laid on the dial

Yes I looked at it. The day is off the date is off. But the dial is obviously a complete rig job. It looks like crap. That doesn't mean it's not the watch formerly owned by the dead rapper. The watch is hideous, and totally rigged to squeeze as much "bling" in it as possible.

I just wanted to make the point that just because the seller is not an ebay platinum seller with hundreds of high end watches under his belt that he is lying. The story sounds plausible. Someone interested in this would certainly want to meet the seller in person and take it to a 3rd party for verification. The seller invites local pick up.

As to the story that has been floating around for a while with slightly different details, well people can be wrong on the vehicle. Only the person that traded the car for the watch or someone close to the watch owner would know for sure. And the seller claims to be friends with the person that traded the watch for the car so I'm sure that could be checked out.

Because lets face it, the value in this watch is not in the watch, it's in who owned it.

What would it cost to get someone to pluck the diamonds off it and melt the rest of it down into an ingot?

This is another instance where the parts are probably of more value than the whole.

The story of the vehicle it was traded in on has changed a few times. The quality and weight of diamonds has changed. My point is the authenticity of the article, not the previous ownership of it, or who is selling it.

On eBay it says "... all diamond Rolex 44ct total weight with all baguette diamonds..." but in the link posted by Aquahallic (http://www.rolexforums.com/showpost....0&postcount=90)
it states "It has 3 carats worth of diamonds around the face and close to 8-10 carats around the band?" That's quite a difference... I say the watch is fake..an urban legend.

not meant to be an inappropriate statement in any way, but is that supposed to be a photo of Biggie Smalls holding the watch? If so, didn't know he had white hands. If not, is it a photo of someone holding the watch in front of a photo of Biggie Smalls, and if so, why?
