That would be an issue. My main concern would be the difficulties in case of needing to send it back, with the USA import restrictions on Rolex. Could end up with no watch at all, worst case scenario.

Import duties, Vat and handling will add on approx 34% of your purchase and postage price.

Yes, anything coming into the U.K. from non E.U. Countries is liable to Import Duties and VAT.

Why buy from the US when prices are lower in Europe?

Depends on which kind of Rolex you buy. Some of the older watches can fetch a much higher premium in the UK, so buying from the US is a good option. Be mindful of the import restrictions as has already been stated. On top of the VAT and import fees (which is no big deal of you've price it in), the import restrictions are the biggest risk incase you wanna send it back. Just make sure you know what you're buying

Good question and one that I have been pondering.

I have been after a 1675, 16750 or 1665.

Placed a couple of WTB's but all of the replies have come from within the USA.
For the very same reasons, that have already been mentioned, I have shined away from any deal.

It maybe better looking in Europe. the weak Euro and the distance and of course lack of 30% import and duties, could mean that an Easijet to Milan return, plus watch is still cheaper. As Adam stated, problems may only occur if watch needs to be returned.

I'm UK based and bought my watch from an American dealer who frequents the for sale forum here. No problems whatsoever.
