Which One Would You Choose?

For those who have followed my posts will know that the Day-Date 118238 is my grail. Since acquiring it back in March of 2015, the 118238 has seen the most wrist time. I don’t have much of an urge to wear the other pieces in my collection as I used to. So, I am contemplating downsizing the majority of my collection (keeping the 16234, 116710 BLNR and 114060, for sentimental reasons) and using those funds towards another precious metal piece.

I have narrowed it down to the following:

GMT Master II 116718 (green dial)
Submariner Date 116618 LB (sunburst dial)
Daytona 116505 (pink dial)

They are very different and amazing in their own right. In the end, I will get the one that appeals to me the most, but in the meantime, I would love to hear thoughts from fellow members/enablers on which pieces they would choose if they were in my situation. Or would you just leave the collection as is.

My focus now is more on quality over quantity and some have said it before (you know who you are), that once you go gold, there is no going back. Attached are photos from the internet of these fine timepieces.

There is no wrong answer here. I slightly prefer the blue but could easily go with the other two. It totally depends on what they look like on your wrist. Good luck in the search.

Of the three, the sub. Now if you had said a gold GMT with a black dial, that would be different.

my amateur opinion is to go with RG since you already have YG.

Playing by your rules - gmt

Slight mod - black dial 116505, I've got my eye on it

Well my friend, obviously I love all 3. My story is I got the DD first, then the blue subc, then the GMTc, and hopefully the RG Daytona is next. I hope and suspect you might just end up getting all 4 of them if you stay on TRF, so just a question of which one first.

Maybe the Daytona first as your gmt and sub are keepers.

Thanks, Neil. Don't know if I can afford all three, but you never know. I am thinking Daytona as well, but love the green dial on the GMT. Then there is the amazing blue sunburst dial of the Sub (would get rid of my TT Sub). Man, I think I am in trouble.

If you can keep hold of your Bluesy then the Daytona's a great choice and more diversified from the rest of your keepers. If selling the Bluesy then I'd go full gold Subc, just need to have the stunning sunburst I think.

Thanks, Neil. In total agreement about the sunburst dial of the Sub. A must have for my collection. Will take your advice and take my time on this matter. Just wanted to get some feedback from members before making any decisions. Ultimately, I will get the one that appeals to me the most.

If it was me I would go Daytona. To me that is an amazing time piece and one of the best looks.

I voted 116618LB because I prefer the 116718 with black dial. If that were a choice, I'd have voted GMT.

I'd choose the YG LB Sub, assuming you'd be flipping the TT.

Hmm...decisions, decisions. The GMT is my favorite of the bunch, but I can see the sunburst fitting into your collection nicely if you flipped the TT as Travis said. Then again, the Daytona is pure hotness...I'm no help here. Voting GMT.

Thanks Larry. I think the GMT is my favourite as well. Not taking anything away from the other two, the green and gold combo just works for me.

For some reason, I feel the suburst blue dial works better for the TT Sub. I may be in the minority on this, but the balance of steel, gold and blue are as close to perfect as possible. I was at the AD this past weekend in hopes all three pieces were in stock, but no luck. All they had was the Everose Gold Datyona with the pink dial I tried on the other week. I have seen all three in person, but ideally would prefer to be able to compare them side by side as I am the type of person who needs to see things up close and in person. The AD's next shipment is towards the end of June. He is going to confirm with me what's on that list.

No argument here on the TT sub...def think you would get more bang for your buck collection adding the GMT to it than flipping it for the all gold sunburst.

Good luck with your decision, my friend...standing by for the incoming!

Both the Sub and GMT are so beautiful that you couldn't possibly lose with either. (Nor with the Daytona for that matter). I voted Sub but love them all.

All 3 are very nice. If I were you, I'll go with the color that matches the majority of my wardrobe. For example, if you have many bluish shirts, blue jeans, etc, then go with the blue. Black or white clothing, then the pink rose :)

Eric I agree with your collection thinking and it's what I did

That said I have had all three of those watches, in retrospect if advising which one to pick and with what you have I would go with the sub, it's a little more classic then the green which is stunning but can get old, and the YG over the RG which I couldn't keep away from my wife!

No wrong choice all stunning!

Thanks for the words of wisdom, Tom. Much appreciated.

In all honesty, I am going to take my time on this one and make sure I make the right decision. Unlike the DD these pieces are not my grail watches and I do not want to make any hasty decisions.
