AP Royal Oak or Breguet Marine

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get either a Royal Oak (15300/15400) or a Breguet Marine, both in steel, to use as a daily "beater" watch. The watch would be occasionally worn while swimming and golfing. I know the obvious choice would be to get a ss Rolex, but that would feel repetitive given that there's a Day Date in the collection already. So, which would you go for in this case?

Tough choice as I like both. But I'll probably go with the RO in this case. I think the Breguet in YG on a strap is the best combo and it would be troublesome to switch between the rubber and leather just for a swim. Also the RO bracelet is just sublime and suitable for everything.

Not sure either make great beater's I have a RO so I will vote that. What about the new gold Yachtie on rubber.

i"m pretty loose with my watches but I would not take either golfing or the sort. Especially the RO - while durable, the bracelet and bezel will probably get marred.

The RO will be an absolute scratch magnet if worn daily, and there are only so many times you can polish it back to 'as new' condition again.

I'd be more inclined, if another Rolex isn't desired, to opt for something like an IWC Aquatimer, with its quick change strap mechanism allowing to switch from bracelet to rubber strap.
Granted, it's not as svelte as the RO or the Marine, but you'd be less worried if it took a bit of abuse.
