Submariner first, then what?
I got a 116610 and I really like it. What should I get for my next watch? Does everyone eventually want a Gold Submariner or a gold watch of some sort?

are you interested in certain functions? or want a dress watch? or do you want a rounded collection in terms or dial color etc?
some people aspire to the watches you stated yes but a lot of people are happy with SS sport Rolexes or move to SS Pateks or APs when they can afford a gold Rolex |

There are so many factors that play into the "what's next" decision... You have a diver so now is it time for a chrono or maybe a more formal option? As you mentioned above, maybe you want to continue the diver theme with precious metals. The options are endless, enjoy the ride

SS Sub turned to YG sub for me, but it took a couple of TRF years. DJ or Daytona are good SS partners in crime.

As to a Gold Sub, no, not many folks at all want a Gold Sub, certainly not as many as want a Stainless Sub. Gold watches aren't in fashion today as much as in the past. A gold dress watch could be the exception so I might look at the new Day Date 40 if I was so inclined.

I am simple. If the first Rolex is a SubC, the next one will be one with white dial.

Get whichever one you like the look of, and no, not everyone likes gold. Stainless steel also holds its value much better, if you think you might want to sell or exchange it later.

Another Sub. Can't have too many. You could get a no-date, Red Sub, 5512, 5513...
