Poll: what would you rather get as a gift

Thinking of buying a date just II or the Blue face GMT for my hubby's 40th bday. Can't decide, what's a better watch, a better value, and will hold it's value better? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Let him choose. Nothing worse than having to go through life feeling compelled to wear a watch that you don't like. (Ok, there's lots of things worse, but this one is right up there).

Again, I'm with Adam. Really, there's nothing wrong for (us guys) to know what our presents would be as long as it's a gift from someone who mattered to us. We are cool not getting any "surprises" though the "surprise" itself is getting a gift that one has always wanted.

So, really, let him choose.

Btw, awesome gift and classy act. And congrats to him on his 40th!

He likes chilling but also is into gym. I know he would go crazy for either but from a more " practical" standpoint lol what's a better buy?

The GMT will "hold its value" better, but as a 40th birthday gift, he's not likely to ever sell it is he?

I have no idea. Perhaps we're talking about the BLNR?

I guess she meant the BLNR. There is no blue-face GMT.

Take him to an AD and let him choose? Casually open a magazine with that one particular watch (a Rolex ad) in it and ask tell him that you think it looks nice and ask him what he thinks? Subtle hints, etc.

GMT is definitely more sporty, if that's his style.

No he would never sell it but it would make me feel better if it held it's value. My Rolex is a ladies datejust and I would never sell it due to scentimental value but I cringe when I think of its resale value now.

I know he likes both as we have had this discussion. They are both gorgeous but I am leaning towards the GMT!

I want to be your hubby! Jk. I vote for the GMT. I think it's a more diverse watch.

GMT no doubt. Looks good dressed up or dressed down and I think it's the better looking watch as well.

Maybe get him the GMT and let him know that he is welcome to look at other ones at your AD and exchange it if one really sings to him. Assure him it would not bother you, you just want him to be happy... He will eat it up! You will have a very happy man!

Great gift from an Awesome Wife!

I always like a GMT, manly, worldly, tool watch, a bit like the iconic Sub with it's cyclops, just a other usability. Maybe you can talk to the AD and you can present the GNT BLNR and if he hates it, the DJ is available without any issues from them. Personally, i think the DJ II with 42mm wears bit big, which might be great once i'm older and have a hard time seeing, hopefully not at 40...Great gift and thanks for enabling the hubby, whatever you do, he'll love it.

Assuming the GMT is the BLNR.
Imagine if I am the hubby, then it is the GMT.

Between the DJII and GMT there is no one better watch.
GMT is better value because of the added functions of dual time and unidirectional bezel.
Both watches hold their value, but from my experience the GMT is much easier or flip.
