The TerryNator Thread

With all of the scam auctions being axed by the TerryNator , maybe we should have a thread dedicated to Terry and scam ebay auctions, you know make it a little easier on Terry

I will start it off...

This guy has a single lot of watches for sale, he even notes the fake Rolex and Tag,

http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-LOT-OF-USE...d=p3286.c0.m14

#2 - What can you say? At least it is free shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-submariner...d=p3286.c0.m14

#3 - a .99 cent Daytona http://cgi.ebay.com/Daytona-Series-R...d=p3286.c0.m14

#4 - If I had to guess I would say fake, he states in the auction he cannot verify if it is authentic or not, the dial states Submariner while the case back is for a SD, hmmm . http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-Submariner...d=p3286.c0.m14

#5 - What the F%$K is this thing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-Oyster-Per...d=p3286.c0.m14

#6 - Way over magnified date http://cgi.ebay.com/SS-Rolex-Oyster-...d=p3286.c0.m14

All of them have been reported except #6 which I believe is genuine. Thank-You for making me puke, retch, vomit, hurl, spew, blow chunks, projectile spit, empty stomach contents, etc. over these perfectly ugly pieces of poop.

It was with great pleasure that I reported them all to E-Bay for their prompt removal.

I did the same thing. They must not work on Sunday or that late at night. We listed those reports at about 2:00 - 3:00 this AM. I just reported them now so hopefully they get pulled soon.

Thanks.

Terry Check this one out, at first I thought it was ok but the dial is missing the wording under 1000ft part, did they do that at one time?

With #6 he says it has a scratch resistant crystal and it does look flat, I have a 16030 from the late 1970's and Rolex has always told me they don't make a sapphire crystal for the 16030 case?? what's up

That seller was actually pretty open to having it authenticated, I was surprised, he even stated...

Dear rusty974,

I can arrange for you to speak with the watchmaker in Texas who did the servicing and installed the new sapphair crystal and engine turned bezel if you wish. You can access his website from my listing. Let me know and I will send you contact name and phone number.

I see the number to call him, it looks like a pretty good deal if the bidding doesn't get out of hand as they do on Evilbay, but Rolex has always told me they DON'T make a sapphire crystal for the 16030 case and I've had to have several new plastic crystals over the years.

Can I get a Sapphire crystal for my 16030 thats not aftermarket from Rolex?

Good question, maybe call the guy from Texas, question him some.

Haha Evilbay

I am turned off by the auction because the cyclops magnifies the date way too much, from what I can see, but maybe the photos just make it look alot bigger than it really is, maybe it is a good deal tho if it goes cheap.

Err buddy Terry...n all concerned buddies in here...please check out this 16750 GMT Master listed in eBay...Item No: 160246209139.

Despite what the Seller TimeVintage who apparently has an eBay Power Seller status says in his listing of that watch...upon closer examinations...the watch has amongst other discrepancies...contrary to what the Seller claims in the eBay listing...

1. a RE-Worked Dial - apparently sticking Non-Original markers onto the Dial which is believed to be once...Matte Dial.
2. RE-painted Hands...
3. the originality of its Acrylic or plastic crystal is questionable...
4. the originality of its bracelet n clasps is questionable...
5. the inside of backcase cover shows tell-tale sign of friction against the rotor blade...which may be caused by a loose rotor shaft n possibility of other damaged parts in the movement...

Other suspicions or confusions...may be arising from the facts that...

a. the Seller has chose to hide all bidders details(location/feedbacks etc)...private bidders?
b. the Seller's feedback history has most items descriptions transacted hidden from public viewing n scrutiny...giving rise to suspicions for possibility of dishonest practices of having multiple eBay accounts...schilling activity...or false biddings to accumulate positive feedbacks ratings.
c. Seller's ME profile claims that they are one of the largest used watch dealer in Singapore...but NOT having any indication of the whereabouts of his so called "establishment" in Singapore...n Seller states refusal to accept personal collections by winning bidders even if the bidders are locals from Singapore itself...

How in which heavens have they obtained their so called PowerSeller status...when clearly their business practices are NOT transparent...to begin with...??

You are absolutely correct. His watch does state that it has a brand new crystal just put on in February when it was serviced and is on warranty with Rolex for two years. I'm thinking that is a one year warranty with RSC and that is a mistake he's got in the listing.

The answer back from him:

You are correct. The 16030 will only work with a Sapphire Crystal if you replace the bezel with an engine turned high boy bezel that will allow for the crystal. I am not so much of a purist that I am not willing to replace the acrylic with what I consider is a better alternative sapphire. When I send a Rolex to Universal Watch to be tuned, I always replace the acrylic crystal with the sapphire replacement and a new bezel...this was done on 1/23/08 at a cost of $304. Having said all of that, if you are a purist that wants your crystal to be plastic like the original Rolex (which may or not be made by Rolex anyway) this is not for you. Hope it clears it up for you...happy bidding.

First one is invalid already. The second one could be real but I am guessing it is fake. She is a power seller with 1,374 sales and 100% positive feedback and she can't even photograph a watch decent enough to be able to see it. I reported it.

I reported both of them right after posting, I am surprised the first was down so fast, usually they come down after you report them.

As for the 2nd one, this makes me iffy on her....

"I HAVE HAD IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND NEVER PUT A BATTERY IN IT."

"I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS REAL OR NOT. IT WAS BOUGHT OVERSEAS."

The #6 that rolex74 speaks of looks like a genuine watch, and nothing in the photos indicates it as counterfeit to me. Very doubtful if anyone is counterfeiting the old datejusts llike the one here, as nobody would buy it as it has minimal value. If it were counterfeit, it would be a one-off counterfeit with some genuine parts. Notice the vintage bezel on this watch, and dial. Plus, there is nothing in the photos that looks counterfeit on the watch. The sapphire crystal replacement is a conversion and is not uncommon as someone else posted here previously.

Good luck on your quest. For a while, I thought Stan and I were the only ones reporting fakes to ebay. Now, if we could get somebody at ebay to remove all of the Rolex - Tudor counterfeit dialed watches...that would make my day. More people buy those watches to learn later that they have bought a Tudor and not a genuine Rolex.

I agree, I want to clean ebay up as much as possible, I am sure some people may get tired of seeing my name pop up with these posts, but I just can't sit back and let people sell fakes to ebay buyers that haven't a clue.

Keep reporting Haha I am sure ebay is getting tired of seeing my user name pop up.

Maybe between you, me, Terry and everyone else we can make a difference

Well from looking at those pictures the movement seems genuine but the dial doesn't seem to confirm to similar older ones.

Very difficult to say, needs an AD authenticity check.

Closest i could find to the ebay pic (regarding the watch on right):

Sadly the pic isen't very big so its hard to tell differences but dial color is different, seems it also doesn't have those blue numbers on the outside ring like the one in this pic.

On second looks the dials are completely different actually
