Thought I'd share some info on how my watches performed in this category.

I gave my submariner a good 40+ full clockwise turns and set the time at 08:00. Laid the watch dial up.

For the Daytona I did the same thing but instead gave it a 60+ clockwise turns and also laid the watch dial up

Results:

Submariner: 48 hours 49 min
Daytona: 71 hours 34 min

The Daytona didn't reach the 72 hour stated on paper while the submariner exceeded the 42+ hours

Very interesting. A question: how old is each piece? I wonder if it makes much difference as the watch ages. What you've observed would make sense to me for nearly new watches. In the case of the Daytona, I think the longer the power reserve the more individual variation (by up to an hour or two) you would see between individual units. Thanks for posting this-

Nope, the chrono was not running. I think if it were, it's expected to run about 66 hours.

the Sub is 2 years old while the Daytona had its last service in 2012. Maybe the longer they go without being serviced, they lose PR?

Sub is supposed to be 48, not 42, as far as I know.

Both are fine. Ok... 71 hr and 30+ min. vs. 72... really? Both are in good shape.

Yea my Daytona runs forever which is good because I don't wear it much... so I'll wind it on a Friday night per say and I'll put it back on my wrist on the weekend.

Sounds like your power reserves are A-OK.

And isn't the 72 reserve on the Daytona a wonderful little bonus feature?
