What do you guys think of the Orbita watch winders?
I have a Rolex Deep Sea and I just picked up a Rolex Submariner. I was looking at a double Orbita watch winder. Not the programable one, but the one that gets the watch orientated to the top and lets if fall. Than it rocks back and fourth.
The winders are not cheap. The cheapest I could find a new one for was $1100.00. It looks to be very nicely built with nice woods. I was wanting it to look really nice to sit on the dresser as well. I know they are expensive, and the cheap ones I have had have crapped out etc. So I wanted to pull the trigger once and get a good one that is serviceable. Thanks |

Don't use a winder but I've read good things about them as well as Wolf (also not cheap). Do a search here and you'll find a lot of stuff on them.

All winders are a waste of money, unless you own a watch that takes more than an afternoon to set.

Winders are great, wouldn't be without one.
I bought a cheapie off eBay for $90. Looks like $500. and has been running fine for 2 1/2 years now. I will see how long it lasts but would never spend more than a few hundred on one.

Orbita winders are IMO the best on the market.
Give Kevin at Orbita a call and I'm sure he'll work something out for you. |

Not the best picture but this is the Wolf Meriden 2.7 and it was $499. It comes with a 2 yr warranty and I have an additional 1 yr using my CC. Not knocking Orbita just giving you a cheaper option.image.jpg

My advice would be to make sure and get a programmable one (like Rich Mickol shows above) if you're going to use one. You need the appropriate turns per day, proper rotation direction (cc,cw,or both), and rest periods between turns. Otherwise you could do more harm than just winding and setting as needed.

I think they're great...but I would take the money you will spend on one and put it toward your next watch.
