Interesting experience with an AD here in TX

So I called the AP AD in Houston trying to get information on ordering a stainless bracelet for the Diver that I am picking up on Friday, and the lady was telling me that she couldn't order the bracelet for me because it would void the warranty. I had never heard that so I called the AD in Dallas and they mentioned that they could order it and it wasn't correct info. Has anyone else had mixed info like that before?

Bad info. AP will sell you the bracelet and service it no problem. I've confirmed it with Clearwater when i called about getting the RG bracelet for my 15305or.

Although I have been told that AP torques the screws on the case back (and internal shield for non clear case back models) to certain specs and if screws are not at those exact specs they might void warrenty if a non authorized service center opened up the watch.

That is one thing that the boutique in FL said. I guess its almost like the screws being torqued, thats just my own theory but that is one thing that would void it.

The Houston AD is a terrible (if that was the one) from every interaction I've had with them. I put them on Turd-oh level. Go elsewhere and save your sanity.

Just call AP Boutique in NYC and get them to help you.

Yes it was the Houston AD I believe the name is Lewis Jewelers. (Don't know if Im allowed to mention their name) They were helpful until today. I think I will also place them on Turd-oh level. I actually just got an email from them and their reasoning was because they did it before and afterwards the watch wasn't telling proper time and AP didn't warranty the watch. Could only imagine that something went wrong on that AD's part.

Misinformation.

I know the guys at the Dallas AD, Eiseman's, they really pride themselves in having their sales staff know their stuff.

They are great also. If you speak to Mike or Kevin, and tell them I said hi.

Thanks JJ, I actually spoke with Jonathan at Eisman's and they offered to take care of all my AP needs.

Glad to hear. I haven't met Jonathan, but I know someone else in the forum bought a watch from him and was pleased with his service.

I'd recommend it. Sales staff is very friendly, and I never felt pressured to buy. I came in about 4 times over 3 months to try on a watch before I bought it too.

Nice to know JJ, I noticed that the get together thread for the Texas area was pretty dead. We should meet up sometime. Im in DFW/FTW area once a month. What piece did you end up going with by the way?

Im 15 minutes from Lewis, and Ive only walked in there once to have my Subs bracelet adjusted. They were very nice about it and had it done in a minute or two, but I have never been in there looking for a piece.

I'd be up for a mini get together with a TRF crew. Several watch shops in North Park!

Shoot me a PM when you are back in town next month, I'm not going to be free this weekend, and we can grab drinks and maybe see some watches.

I mean I've only spoken with the Uptown location staff. They were really willing to help and I definitely appreciated it but they were just so sure that my warranty would be voided and I just decided hey its all good Im not going to go back and forth

I think your AD said that because AP doesn't want people inventing new models.

When I asked my AD (who is always very good to me interms of service and discounts), for help to convert my 26320 from bracelet to leather, they initially said there was no option available.

After some more probing, they eventually decided to "try" to help by ordering the plots 1st for my 26320 to see if it would even fit. They said they would order the plots 1st and if it fit they would order the leather strap and deployment clasp afterwards. So they eventually did help.

While I was in Dubai, I visited the boutique at the Dubai Mall. Carrie at the boutique told me the reason my AD initial refused my request is because AP doesn't like people making their watches look like they aren't supposed to (i.e. SS ROC on leather) and inventing new models. Also when some watch enthusiasts see a watch as they've never seen before (26320 SS on leather or ROO Volcano on bracelet), they might assume its fake. So AD's generally recommend against these type of conversions or just outright refuse to help.

The authorized AP service center in Taiwan wouldn't even tell my AD which plots to order for my 26320 to do a conversion. My AD had to guess which models would have suitable/compatible plots. We eventually confirmed that the plots were correct when another member on this forum, who also did the conversion, gave me the part number.

It make sense why they would be against it. Thanks
