General Question about Dial Material

Hey so I've always wondered what Rolex dials are made of. I assume that the ones that are colors probably have the same base metal/material but what about others? Like is the platinum YM dial made of solid platinum? Is the Rhodium dial solid rhodium? And what about silver dials? Are they silver as in color or silver as in Ag? And last but not least, are champaign dials made of gold or are they just made to look gold?

By the way, I apologize if this topic has already been discussed elsewhere before.

I have a late model Day Date that has white pyramids on it, but I doubt the Egyptians had anything to do with it... Great question though and I would like to know too

Almost all are brass, I think.

Most are brass.

The Platinum dial on the YM is platinum..

The Rhodium is a plating - they use the same plating on some internal parts.

The meteorite is real meteorite bonded to brass

The Champagne is not real champagne

Some of the Day Dates even had wooden dials. Not very common though.

Some dials are made of solid gold on the day date crown collection range

Gold models are made of 18k gold.
Platinum are made of platinum.
All there are made of brass except meteorite which are on a brass plate with the meteorite in top.

Thanks, I thought a majority were brass, I just didn't know if they all were as a base or not.

It isn't commonly known, but the champagne dials ARE champagne. They freeze it, and then vacuum dry it, like Sanka.
