Okay - I'm An Idiot

Moved some links around on my sub bracelet. Moved them back. It ended up being an exercise in futility.

Used a leatherman which chewed up the screwpins and even managed to leave some scratches in the links that bother me (and the watch/bracelet are pretty banged up already, I beat on the thing and don't really mind, so these are some pretty nasty scratches).

Anyway, so I don't have to look at the bracelet and be reminded of just how stoopid I am, what are my options? Can I order new screwpins? Suggestions on the scratches?

You can get new screws from your AD.

Your AD watchmaker (alternatively RSC) can polish out the scratches.

Admittedly, I kinda enjoy fiddling with the watch, so not a super big deal to me. I told a coworker that there is no doubt I'll one day be removing the back from the thing. It's a flashy light I can't ignore :)

If you want to take the back off I don't see any way to do it without the device the in this video.

Me? I'd love to take the back off mine so I can photograph it. However, I think I'll stick to photo'ing my old Nard and Walthams. The Rolie costs too much for me to bungle around with.

Is the watch under manufacturer warranty? If it is, I would just send it back to the RSC. That way they can fit in new screwpins for you and at the same time, remove the scratches. You can also just send it back even if it is no longer in warranty.

I would not recommend trying to remove the scratches yourself as I have always been against using polishing cloths such as cape cod cloths on any watch.

You can try Otto Frei and look under bracelet parts....they have lots of screws of every kind so you can take apart all your watches..

You will need to know what you want............

As far as cleaning up the sides.........some watches have brushed sides and some are polished....if you're careful and know your way around some wet & dry or semi-chrome paste, it isn't too tough...

While you're on the Otto Frei website, why don't you spend a couple of extra bucks and get some decent tools...........

The following seller on eBay has them, but I am not sure if he will sell just the screws? But the screws used in his bracelets fit and are exactly the same as the originals. If you can't get just the screws grab one of his bracelets and use the ones from that. They will fit and he is a very nice & helpful guy!

I'll probably just try my AD when I get back to Louisiana and then the RSC route.

Or just add a few new scratches to make me ignore the self inflicted ones.
