Don't know why I'm asking....

Because I know all of you are going to enable me to spend way more money than I should. The Platona itch is growing and seeing many preowned come on the market doesn't help. Dr. Tom texting me pics of his Platona REALLY doesn't help. I could flip a few watches, but love and wear all of them in the rotation. Since getting the Smurf, it sees the most wrist time though. So, the real question is, flip a few or continue to save and add to the collection? Fighting that itch is tough!!! Below is a pic of my current rotation.

I am sure most of the replies you will get is to continue to save...

My opinion... I would flip 2 of the 4 Subs (Not counting the smurf)

Call me crazy but I would flip the TT Sub (you got the blue on the smurf) and the Hulk or the anniversary(green bezel sub) towards the Platona.

You can always pick up those other watches if you miss them in a few years. I would sell off a few and go for the Platona.

Will you ever wear the white SS Daytona if you own the Platinum? I doubt it.

You have a nice round collection there and the Platona would fill it nicely. I'd even suggest adding a DD and then you would have the ultimate Rolex collection!

I can see a bit of consolidation there.. you got 5 subs.. I am sure some can go. and I also think the white dial Daytona can be replaced by the Platona.

Wow nice collection! The platona would look great right between the YM and Smurf.

Difficult to say goodbye to some
But according to PM wearers the steel versions get a lot less wrist time,
so flipping some sounds like a good solution to get the Platona

I'm with Brian.

I would rather less watches than that, with more value in them.
It doesn't even have to be actual value in $$ but more value in terms of spending wrist time.
I would also rather 1 PM watch and 1 SS over 5 SS watches. Granted that PM is one I really really love. I also know that no SS watch will give me the feeling of that PM watch if it was the PM I was REALLY after.

If it was me I would flip, and add $$ to finance the Daytona.
Doesn't it make sense to have less watches, that will all get more wrist time?

The next part is what I would do. Hypothetically if I was in your situation. Obviously I don't know which ones hold sentimental value for you. I enjoy putting myself in others shoes though!
I would flip the Daytona, because I would be getting another Daytona, which is pretty much THE Daytona to have.
I would flip the 116613lb. I don't see why I would need it if I have the smurf. Not only is the smurf much prettier, it is also stealthier, and is full PM. I also don't care much for the extra bling. Something you may like about it maybe.
I would also flip the Sub and YM. I already have the perfect Sub, and the YM is too boring.

I am left with GMT as a travel companion.
Sub as my diver and colourful PM watch.
50th 16610lv anniversary for extreme casual light watch, and the only one I own with 5 digits.
Hulk for nice color casual as well, except in SS this time.
Platona as the boss.

Let us know what you decide!!

I would flip a few, as pointed out there is some redundancy there (however amazing collection). It would be a little tough to decide what stays and what goes however.

I'd flip the SS Daytona, the 50th anniversary Sub, and the TT Sub.

TT SUB: well u have the Smurf for the blue days
SUBC: you can always buy this watch (Keep the kermit en get the black insert).

I absolutely LOVE the Hulk, Daytona, Smurf, and Yachtmaster. Those are keepers. The two tone bluesy was my first, so it also has a special place in my heart. I could part with the sub and GMT. Still up in the air about Kermit.

Tough call if you really love all of them. I'm sure you could find a few that you love a bit less than some of the others.

I'm not a fan of the daytona in general, but the platinum version is definitely special.

Chad you have an amazing collection and you say you love and wear them all, BUT you have two SS and two TT subs and honestly if an incoming Daytona you would have two Daytonas

so I say move a SS sub, TT sub and the Daytona for the Platona

I had a similar collection and ended up with the PM versions and believe me and as you know, the PM model virtually stops me from the desire to wear the SS version

we all await the inevitable Platona incoming!!!!!

Also have to agree with Tom, the AP Diver was my fav SS watch once but I tried it on the other day at the ADs and the feeling was rather weak now that I have mostly PMs.

Less is more is my point of view... If you trade a few for the platona you won't miss them.

Great Collection !!!!!

I'd flip the Daytona, The Hulk and the TT Sub. If you need more $$$ then one of the two Subs on the right. Or you could flip the two Subs and keep the Hulk.

Boy I'd love to be in your shoes. Let us know

I think moving up to a Platona is a lot like the fine wine/single malt scotch debate. You'll drink less but enjoy it more. I would probably purchase the Platona first if that was possible and then discover over time what I should part with. I'll predict that you'll soon be looking at yet another PM watch and that the SS Daytona, TT Sub, Yachtmaster, SS Sub and GMT, and Kermit will all go. Mind you, I am totally unqualified to comment since I don't own a PM watch, but I definitely know my current collection will be in for major shrinkage if I ever do! Good luck and enjoy your Platona when you finally get it.

Hulk > Kermit so that goes.

Sell one more sub.

I think you need one gmt

I'd flip yaty (but you love that one)

Still a pile of cash to add with those

I'd sacrifice white ss as how can the platona not trump it

So to summarize:

Move at least 2 subs plus Daytona - I'd also move yaty

Still adding a bunch with that but just as you love that smurf, the platona with demand writ time.

One more thought

Keep, smurf, hulk (beater)

Sell all others

Add platona and blro

Case closed

Several good ideas. The SS Daytona was my 40th birthday present to myself, so it's hard to flip that one. I do like the idea of getting the Platona first and letting everything else play out. After all, my heart is saying add, don't flip (for now). Too bad I can't add audio to this thread or I would have it play "Hard knock life" from Annie

Well...if you can afford it, by all means listen to your heart, Chad. Spending thousands of dollars for a watch is not exactly a rational hobby, after all.

Very, very true. What makes it even worse is that I have several bicycles that were just as much if not more than a couple of those watches. I'm a sick, sick man. It's a good think I'm not married. I can only imagine the kind of crap I'd have to listen to.
