I can't decide. 5205R or 5712R
Hey guys!
Need some help. Which watch would you choose for your everyday? 5205R black dial or the 5712R on strap. I'm trying to cut down my collection and trying to get one watch to do it all or most of everyday duties. This will be my first Patek. Most recent watches have been the Rolex Skydweller everrose on strap, Skydweller yellow gold on bracelet, Panerai 569, Pam 351, 372 and AP ROO safari and Panda. TIA. Frank |

You probably meant to post this in the Patek forum. The 5712r wears a bit bigger, which I like, but the 5205r is plain gorgeous, if you have a smaller wrist.

Definitely the Naut, it's gorgeous, except if you want an AC, but I prefer it to the 5205 and yes wrong forum

Wrong subforum, but my vote goes to the 5205r.

I'm hoping the mods can move this as I was in a hurry to head out the door for a meeting and didn't realize it was in the wrong forum.
I have a medium size wrist.... Would that sway towards the 5712? |

5712R but if you have all those I would sell 3/4 and get both.

Depends...what's everyday like for you? Suited or casual? I would personally rather have the 5711/1r but I'm casual. If suited, I prefer the 5205.

5712R for everyday, the 5205r is impossible to read half the time.

The 5712R gets my vote.

5205R for me. Not a fan of the 5712R dial.

5205R wears thick and small - markedly thicker and smaller dial (despite the wider dimensions) than the 5712R. If your wrist is medium the 5205R will be fine. White dial is easier to read than black, but black is very popular. The 5712R dial layout is very polarizing - some like and some (like me) really don't. If I was going to get a watch with an asymmetric face I would think about a Lange 1 MP (or GL1 MP).

As an everyday watch, the 5712R is more versatile. I'm thinking of picking up one myself.

5712R is sportier, in my eyes making it more versatile.

I belive 5712R and 5205R work best in larger collection. I don't have a large collection and ended up flipping my 5712R although its a beauty. RG was too much for me to wear everyday. However, if that works for you go 5712R. The watch is gorgeous.

I am slightly preferring the 5205 of the two you mentioned.

Just saw them both today, as I'm creeping closer to my first Patek, and I have to say I love the 5205r with the white dial. Normally I'd think it's too small as I'm used to AP and RM and am a larger mammal, but there's just something about the design and the fit that's perfect.

I love the Nautilus 5980, 5711. So for me in this comp I'll choose 5205r black. It is indeed a beautiful watch and Prob one of their nicest annual Calander watches ever.
