After looking at the Day Date 40 several times and comparing it to my Day Date II and the 36 mm Day Date, I find myself looking more and more at the 36mm Day Date. Today, I went back and looked at some old photos of my Day Date and I must say, it looked pretty good. I find myself wondering why I "upgraded."

So here's to the 36 MM 118238!

But my Day Date II seems about perfect, too.

But the Day Date 40 looks very good, too!

Maybe Rolex should keep all three in production. I might need one of each!

And I'm still thinking I might "need" this one.

There is no cure for this Rolex obsession!

Here's my lineup many years ago with my Day Date. Today, I have a different white dial SS Daytona and a Polar Explorer... but that could change.

Got to say had my 36mm next to the new 40mm and still preferred mine. The key is the 36mm is not a thin watch and the DD bracelet is solid so it certainly wears quite large for its small size. my Current and my old Bark YG.

The white dial YG DD (in either size) with Romans may just be my grail. I've got a black dial YG DD with diamond markers but would really like the white dial with Romans also.

Wow, Otto! Both look great on you but think between the two the DDII looks better. Personally the new DD 40mm has become my grail. I saw one in a shop window recently but have yet to try one on however.

I think that it is rather often only feeling to get something new. After getting the new one you see that it is not necessarily any better than the old one was, but those spent extra money you could have spent for another watch to add to the collection.

I don't see anything wrong with the 36mm DD and I really like the DDII; the DD40 to me seems like a nice watch however it also seems like neither fish nor fowl nor good red herring. Nothing wrong with it just redundant.

You know Otto, I'm not sure if the chase is more fun than the actual purchase. When I lived in Japan, I loved visiting the Ginza and visiting all of the watch shops. The mall connected to the Yokohama train station had some awesome watch stores also (I was never sure if the Rolex store there was an actual AD).

Anyhow, having one of each DD size would be the ultimate awesomeness!
