Some people should just be strung up and beaten severely

Unfortunately that is a sad truth, not just around hotel areas but also around fancy restaurants and etc... you just got to be aware of your surroundings.

Fully agree, but if he had just bought a new Rolex it is possible he had been watched by the thieves. I have always felt a tad vulnerable when leaving a watch store or jewellers and I certainly would not be carrying a huge sum of money.

I've walked into watch stores with large sums of cash, but so far I've never managed to walk out of those with large sums of cash :)

I am originally from central London, but have lived in France for 31 years now....Alps in the winter, Provence in the summer. I spent three days in Paris earlier this week, which is exceedingly rare for me.

Situational awareness aside, I always feel far safer in New York and San Francisco (where I am a regular visitor) than I do in London or Paris....particularly at night.

I might be working a few months in France 40km outside of Paris. Is it really any worse than typical big city USA?

I heard mixed experiences (not work related) of those who have been recently.

What scum. Whenever I buy from a mall AD I tend to be paranoid as hell until I reach the car. Probably not necessary as the ad is in Canada lol but anywhere there's opportunity there is scum like these clowns.
