AD Giving Me Trouble
Hi TRF!
I purchased a platinum DD about a month back and am having some trouble with my AD and wanted everyone's opinion. I am anal and OCD, I'll admit it, but that's my personality and it is what it is. I paid retail for the watch, I know I could have gotten a discount if I shopped around, but I was specific with my requirements and was thus willing to pay for it. At the time of purchase, I informed the AD I would only accept the watch if it came brand new in box from the Rolex factory, and ordered AFTER my payment, and untouched by anyone but me. She obliged and happily took my money. Fast forward about a month, the watch is in, and I am informed they had to unbox it for verification purposes. Sure, whatever, I'll deal with it. But I also tell them I want any sort of proof that this was ordered straight from Rolex after my payment. They said this is information they cannot divulge. I paid retail and fully disclosed what I wanted prior to payment. I held up my end of the bargain. I don't want a watch that's been sitting in the AD's vault for several months. I know it might sound stupid, but it's my money and I'm willing to pay for it. Any advice? |

I order my watches the same way. they arrive at the AD in a plastic coffin. it remains sealed until they let ME open it. that is how it should have gone for you also. that is how it comes from Rolex.

you just paid a lot of money. Get a refund and buy it somewhere else.
That said...it wouldn't bother me a bit. |

I understand..
You want a watch that has been sitting in the Rolex warehouse and not in the Dealers warehouse.. If you don't feel that this satisfies your anal, OCD personality, return it and search elsewhere.. It ain't rocket science, it's just a watch purchase..

I wouldn't accept the watch. I guarantee another AD would be more than happy to take your money - especially at full price.

Doesn't the fact that it took a month to get the watch in mean anything to you? Why would they wait that long if they had it sitting in their vault?

+1 if you planned, negotiated and paid for a deal that suits your OCD, that is what you should get.

Anesthesiologists tend to be a bit of an OCD bunch, which makes them good Anesthesiologists.

I am conjecturing but it is possible they may have obtained the watch from another AD in trade for other (more popular) product and that it did not come directly from Rolex. A platinum DD is an extremely nice watch, but they do not fly off the shelves; helping a fellow AD out like that is probably common practice. If you made the deal you claim, return the watch and buy elsewhere. Their unwillingness to share details (if true) would also put me off. If I were spending that much for the full AD experience I would want a fuller explanation.

Thanks for everyone's replies.
The reason I am suspicious is because I was quoted 2-3 months because it needed to come from Switzerland and not Rolex USA in NY (the U.S. distributer). It came much earlier than expected. I have paid in full, this was the only way they could place an order for me. I have yet to take possession. The second reason I am suspicious is because I am simply asking for any paperwork to verify that it was indeed ordered for me. How hard is it to show me a piece of paper? |

That proves nothing, sometimes they do come fast. We live in a modern world.

I've had an issue with a NYC AD as well.
I asked for a a new watch from the safe with stickers etc. They brought one out and I inspected the serial number before they took it back for sizing. After almost 15 minutes waiting, they brought back a different watch with stickers off and scratches on the PCL's... I was very disappointed and left. |

AD Giving Me Trouble
Is the warranty card the newest version? That may be an indicator of being old stock

Thank you tkerrmd for the picture, I will see what it looks like when I go tonight to "pick it up." More than likely I will end up refusing it and asking for a refund.
I mean if they aren't trying to hide anything, they'd bend over backwards to show me any papers showing that it was ordered new. It seems simple. Also what does a new warranty card look like? Can I call Rolex with the serial # and can they look it up for me?! |
