26" or 31" Ladies Datejust
Hello,
I am purchasing my first Rolex - after much deliberation! I think it is now between a 26" and a 31" SS datejust with a jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel, silver dial with diamond markers. Initially I was looking at an oyster bracelet, smooth bezel, white face and roman numerals...but then I saw this watch... As my style is usually classic and understated, I am not sure if the 31" (or the 26"!) is too flashy. I am a fifty year old petite 5'3" female with 5.75" wrists - and the watch is to be an everyday watch. I have posted photos of the 2 sizes and would appreciate any feedback! Many thanks. |

Go with the 31mm, as the 26" or 31" will be way too large unless you're King Kong, lol.

It really depends on your wrist size and how the watch sits on your "bone" (wrist).
I have a friend who is around 1.71m tall, a medium "boned-size" lady and 31mm looks strangely big on her whereas 26mm looks nice. On the other hand, I know of one colleague who fits your description and she looks really good on 31mm.... so there you have it. all boils down to yourself... my vote...?? 31mm |

31!! I wanted to buy my wife a 31mm DJ but she insisted on a 26. Two years later she admitted I was right and now loves her 31mm. The one you have pictured looks great on you!

26mm imho. I am buying one for my wife in the near future and she is in her 30s and also prefers traditional/ classic designs and such. She likes the size and look of the 26.

In agreement here as well for the 26mm, especially based on the pictures and the content in your post.

Bought my wife a similar combo except pink dial. I wanted to get 31mm but she went with the 26. Now she think maybe the 31 would be better. Regardless both sizes are fine. Try them on again before you buy and see which one is more comfortable/pleasing to you.

My wife (mid 30's) wears a 26mm (had the watch 7 or 8 years now)
But I think buying today would go for 31mm. If you do not like the 31 you could always trade for the small size, but 31 is still a womans size watch and will look great. After you try on, see if there is a sales woman in the store to let her try on, so you can get a different perspective of how it would look from a few feet away. Also, not sure how your eyes are ....I can barely see my wife's time and date when setting for her |

My wife just bought a 31mm, she is 5'3" and is on the small side. She tried on the 26 and just felt it was to small.

This discussion has legs. Mrs G will not entertain 31mm and is currently looking at a second 26mm with MOP dial. She is five feet nothing though.

26!!
Looks WAY better on your wrist than the 31". imho the 31" looks like a giant men's watch on your wrist. |

My wife is about 5'2" and has worn a 26 mm YG with date window (lady's president?) for the past 25+ years. At the same time, I myself wore a 31 mm TT midsize Datejust, remembering that the stampede to saucers on the wrist has been a recent phenomenon. I only recently decided to upsize, but to an Air King, at 34 mm, and have no desire to go any larger. She herself has no interest in wearing the 31 mm watch. Anyway, my take on this after seeing both on her wrist, which you may or not find useful, is that the 31 mm Datejust looks like a watch on a bracelet, while the 26 mm looks like a really nice bracelet with a watch on it.

Welcome
31, but looks as though you could go 34 or 36 no problem.

FWIW - My wife has looked and while we haven't pulled the trigger yet, she leaned towards the 26mm.
Can't go wrong with either though! |

They both look good on you, however, I prefer smaller watches on women.
I vote for the 26. |

My wife has several watches 31mm and smaller. I have been looking to get her a Rolex for quite some time and finally took her to the AD. To my surprise she actually went with the 36mm DJ. I leaned towards the 31.

Both sizes look good on you. You really can't go wrong. The 31mm wouldn't be too flashy at all, especially in the more understated stainless/white gold. It would make a great everyday watch
I've read lots of comments of those who bought smaller and wished they'd bought bigger, but I've never seen a comment of buying the 31mm and wishing they'd bought the smaller 26mm. Make sure you will be 100% happy with the 26mm size if you do choose the 26, and vice versa. I like both sizes, but opted for the 31mm as I like the slightly bigger watch face and the bigger dial hands. I'm 40+ years of age and do not feel that the 31mm is too large by any means. My husband also preferred the 31mm on me. I love my 31mm DJ. It's my favorite daily watch. Enjoy this time of choosing. It's a fun and often confusing time. May you choose whichever size you feel the most comfortable wearing. That's the most important thing. Congratulations on your soon to be incoming

I'd vote for 31mm. Much more modern, and it fits you perfectly. If anything I'd say go for the 31 just for legibility.
