Rolex service in Maine
Just wondering if anyone had a favorite or known reliable watchmaker in the state of Maine. Looking for an independent as opposed to AD. I have had a couple of bad experiences lately and would like to find someone I could trust.
Thank you |

I have never worked with these people before, but I know that Swiss Time on Exchange street in Portland has Rolex servicing capabilities. They are a Swiss family and have been in existence a couple decades from what I understand. They routinely buy used watches - Rolex, PP, Tudor and service them to resell. Again - no first hand experience, so you would have to 'interview' them yourself to make a decision.
I'm looking for one myself, so if you do have a good experience with anyone let me know. Bharat |

Swiss Time has not serviced my Rolexes. If my watch(s) need service I'd give them the work for my older watches that are out of warranty. They also have a nice selection of pre-owned Rolexes.
I have used them for my 1890 Tiffany pocket watch which hadn't run in my lifetime. It's a gold minute repeater with chimes for the hour and every 5 minutes past the hour. They were able to fix it when Betteridge Jewelers in Greenwich CT refused in one breath and asked if I 'd sell it with the next. They restored my Black Forest Cuckoo Clock this winter, which would not run continuously. They just completed my Plymouth mantle clock most recently, picked it up in August.

Kind of tough being up here in the wild woods of Maine huh guys. Not a lot of options. Andrew I have heard mixed reviews on Swiss time. Having gotten burned a couple times I am hoping to find a solid watchmaker I can use long term. A friend says there is a shop in Bangor called Tabors I believe. I may give it a try and report back. Baharat feel free to PM me and I can give you my experiences so far with the places I have used.

It's a small country and the post office goes everywhere, you could use Rikki in FL or ABC Watchwerks in LA, both will treat you great and the service will be done to your wishes and quickly.

I've used the Watchmaker in Stoneham, MA for some work but find them over priced.
https://thewatchmaker.com/ I've also used Long's in Peabody, MA and they have an independent repair service which is Rolex approved and matches Rolex's pricing closely and does good work as well as providing a full Rolex warranty. http://www.longsjewelers.com/ I'd stop in to the Peabody store and talk with their service guy there; he doesn't do the service which is done off site. Did you talk to Springers in Portland? |

Yes Lee I have been into Springers at both the Brunswick and Portland location. They are great people and I never thought to ask if they did any work on sight. I just assumed they sent everything to RSC. My issue stems from having the Mercedes hands on a couple of my watches and actually thinking of having them put on my newest one. We all know Rolex frowns on mods :) I had a couple bad experiences sending watches out for service as I mentioned earlier. I would like to find a place where I could walk in and talk to the watchmaker in person. They are few and far between up here in Maine. Thank you for all the responses thus far.

The Watchmaker in Stoneham might be the place; they replaced the dial on my DJ for me but it took effort to get them not to do a full service on it. As other's have said, Rik in FL is good; I've used him for service with good success.
