Its about time i buy a rolex
Hello everyone
My name is Jaime New to the forum, and I guess you could say i'm a casual watch collector.... I love a nice watch and I feel naked without a watch. I wear one watch everyday for the last 7 or so years, an Oris F1 7560, however its time for me to get what I've always wanted a Rolex DJ in silver with a fluted Bezel i grew up in very poor and terrible conditions and its a promise to myself that i would one day own a Rolex by my own means, i work in entertainment and my watch has been pointed at many times in the direction of Famous musicians that their stage time is up.... so its time for me to get down to purchasing one... I'm 38 and want to have this before i turn 40 any advice, I've been reading here in the forum and we have a AD in the SLC area i live in, I've gone in a couple times and quickly browsed.... i didn't want to bother the salesman without the intention of buying at that moment, but now i read that it can be common to visit a few times before purchasing any insight would be great i look forward to talking watched with you all and soon becoming a Rolex owner thank you JHo |

Oh trust me, the poor are here. i grew up in Rose park.... we were on welfare, I remember Ronald Regan cheese all to well, we used to heat the apartment with the oven door open and boil bathwater because the utilities were turned off, my mother was a single mom with a slight drug problem that eventually killed her, we left that place after getting home invasion robbed one night, during that robbery i was held hostage by guy with a shotgun. I assure you there are poor and down and out in Utah as well... i wont disagree that its nowhere near as bad as other places thou, My teachers used to tell me that i would be locked up by the time i was 25, so for me having a Rolex and not having a criminal record would be a sort of badge of merit for me and what i have become. Welcome! Hope you get that DJ soon. Don't be afraid to browse, it's a big purchase. Do give them a chance to close when you are ready though

Welcome, well done to you, and don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain and get a decent discount.

By all means visit the ADs and try on a few watches, half the fun is in the hunt and anticipation.

welcome, and glad you did well despite your upbringing. Like others said, go ahead and try them on at your local AD, don't worry if you feel you are wasting their time, because you are thinking about getting one. good luck in your search.

Welcome Jaime and a big congrats to you for overcoming those circumstances.
Try all of them on, several times if necessary, and don't rush your decision. Considering your early years and where you are now you'll want your first Rolex to be a keeper. Let us know what you decide and enjoy the experience. |

Visit AD's, try on all the watches you want. That's why they are there. Maybe something else you didn't expect catches your eye. No reason to rush into a decision, buy when you are 100% sure you know what you want.
Then get ready to start shopping for your second Rolex. |

Welcome...and try watches on to your hearts content. It is one of my favorite pastimes...try it, I think you'll like it.
In all seriousness, though, when you are ready to buy, take a look at what our sellers have here in the TRF classifieds for some comparison shopping. Good luck to you. |

I actually visited my AD for about a year trying on different watches until I found the right one for me. Go to the AD and try on everything that interests you. The AD was very understanding and when I was ready to buy I bought the watch from that AD.

I also love the Datejust with fluted bezel - refined size and a durable lifetime watch. Especially great when sunlight catches the bezel.
My advice is not to be afraid to bother the salesman. It's his job to help you, and as a potential buyer you have the power to say yes or no to anything he shows you. After settling on a watch, I'd ask for a 20% discount first and aim to achieve a 10-15% discount in the end. If you have a chance to visit an out of state AD and ask them to ship it to your home or work address in Utah then I believe you will not be charged sales tax. |
