A Sad Day - Sending Off my DD2
Yeah, I am being a bit of a baby , and looking for a some sympathy. I admit it.
But my first obtained grail is going bye-bye. Long story short, the Superdog is a bit under the weather (more than a bit, but that is another story, in another thread). His vet bills are getting to the point of outrageous and I am not yet ready to quit on the little guy. While I do have an emergency fund for things such as this...I really don't feel like taking any money from it. The only fund I feel comfortable drawing from is the watch fund, and I recently depleted that by getting the BLRO and something for my old man. I have always felt like watches are just for the fun of it. And I simply would not feel comfortable drawing money from savings while I have all these little gems sitting around in a safe. While I waste a lot of money on this hobby, this makes me feel as though I am being somewhat responsible... So the first "big" watch purchase I made is going. Saying good-bye to the WG DD2 (and a few others actually) today. It was this or the BLRO and that is just not happening. I have been back and forth with wether or not I actually do have any sentimental attachments to watches. My father wore this one until I recently picked up a YG version simply so I could get it back. And ultimately, the answer is no, I really don't have any true attachment to it. I just really really really like it. But I just got the BLRO and it is a much more versatile and comfortable watch (to me). Anywho, I just wanted to whine and complain a little bit. And who else am I going to whine and complain to? No one else will understand.

Hey Seth - understand the feeling but you're making the right move for sure.....the watches can be replaced in the future and the situation has made you prioritize your collection.
Wish you all the best for Superdog....I'd do exactly the same as you in a heartbeat!

Seth that sucks for Superdog, I hope he gets better. A watch is just a watch and you can get another one some day that feels the same on. But there's only ONE Superdog ..

You're doing the right thing Seth, and I'd do it too in a heartbeat. You may love the watch but it doesn't love you back and is always thrilled to see you. Best wishes for Superdog.

Sorry to hear about your dog, Seth.
As for the watch, you can always get another later. In fact, it's highly likely that you will. |

I would do the same if I had to, for my black pug, Radar. I understand fully.

Sad to lose a gold piece! Gotta do it though because Superdog is a family member.
You have to do your very best for him. |

Hey Seth, so sorry to hear about your pup. I am a dog lover as well, I get your pain.
As far as watches go, I have sold so many times for family stuff. My wife needs a new SUV, boom, I sell a couple watches. Family needs some cash or a vacation, boom, watch sold for some quality family time. Watches are the last thing I spend my money on these days, that is why I am saving right now to get back into a Rolex. I have owned so many over the years, and now I have none. Kids got older and more expensive, its life. I will save some more and get ONE nice sub c and call it good forever. This last purchase I will never sell, it will be passed down to my boy when I die. I envy guys who can afford to spoil their kids and have a nice collection, sadly, that is not me. It is all about priorities, yours are in the right place, best of luck my friend.

Sorry to hear... I agree with others and your comments, watches are material and can be replaced anytime. You're making the right move and one that any human being with a conscious would do.
All the best! |

You are doing the right thing. Sad to see the DD II go, but there is no price for your dog.
