What is luxury?

What is a great luxury in your life? Despite what it states, it doesn't necessarily mean it costs a great deal. Mine is having the time to enjoy watching my daughters participate in sports, stealing an hour for a cigar, or riding my bicycle through the local trails.

Sitting on my verandah, late on a warm Summer afternoon, looking out across the city and mountains and sipping a good wine.
Makes me feel like a Billionaire.

Mine is body surfing at any of Sydney's great beaches in weather like there is here TODAY.
[usually with a Rolex on my wrist!] and then finishing with a strong coffee!
Simple pleasures rule.

Traveling for me... it just makes me feel more alive and also I like to experience new things, see how others live, it makes me more humble and appreciate little things that I have, etc.

Everyday when I come home and see my son's smiling face... he's precious and that is what truly makes me happy more than anything else in the world.

Sitting quietly with my dog or reading. No TV or tech (except the kindle from which I'm reading)
Quiet, alone time seems luxurious.

Time with my dog and seeing how the small things make him so happy, travel (got a good one coming in two weeks) and a great watch of course to accompany me wherever.

Without question the biggest luxury in my life is the time I spend with my two sons who are now also my best friends, nothing else even comes close

Ok racing my car at Daytona is a close second! But guess what my two sons are on the pit crew! The best of both worlds!!

Third bike rides in the Alps, and of course with my sons!

Friday night at the pub with my mate watching sport and people, wagyu steak and 4 beers, safe in the knowledge I don't have to go back to work until Monday!!!!!! Wake up in the morning and take my dogs for newspaper and breakfast. Weekend tends to go downhill from there!

Sitting on a beach or by the ocean , smoking a good cigar (the only time I smoke them) watching the sunset and listening to the waves come in.

This may seem silly, but I really enjoy the 'luxury' of getting my hair cut. 20 minutes of quiet and solace while having someone pamper you. Bliss to me

Oh, and the rasul couples treatment at the Canyon Ranch Spa is a close second!

A long walk with my dog on a cool fall night. A long drive through the mountains with a good playlist. Cold beer, good friends and a football game. My fiancé and all she does for me.

Getting together with family and friends to just chill, drink good beer, and very good scotch. Cycling with friends is also fun. I should look at putting together a long weekend of cycling with TRFers in the mountains here near Asheville, NC.

Luxury to me is waking up next to my lovely wife and best friend and knowing I will be spending my whole day with her.... because I didn't die in my sleep. Lol!

Yup, family get togethers, healthy enough to watch the daughter and nephew grow up and learn from the same mistakes I made at certain ages. Both love wine, he's loving and learning about ROLEX she's just rolls her eyes like the wife lol. They both have have really turned up the heat on being a foodie and follow my inspiration in the kitchen and back yard grilling. That's luxury in my life.

Luxury: My son, my mother, my father and my wife - Presidente Beach, Cancun Mexico.

6:00 AM the sun is rising, it is quiet, it is warm, it is majestic and I am with the people that mean the most to me. This is the ultimate luxury and it happens every year in May.

I'd love to answer the question five years ago. Funny how things change.
