Just dropped my PAM off for its first service

I just dropped of my PAM00312 for its first service though the Panerai boutique. I was quoted $300 over the phone for a full maintenance, but when I got to the boutique, I was told (by someone else) that it would be around $600 for the full service. Does this sound about right? I wanted to make sure they would be able to polish the scratches out of the bezel, which they said they could and it would be in pristine condition, but I'm throwing around the idea of just getting a replacement bezel for an additional $150.

Six hundred sounds right. I had a full service done to a 000 last year and paid that.

$600 sounds much more realistic to me. My 121 chronograph ended up being around $1000 with a new bezel

That sounds right, you also have to realize $600 is the retail price, so like our store they probably mark up the repair. The Panerai boutiques in Miami are not owned by Panerai, but independent jewelry companies. Repair service is another revenue generating aspect of their business.

Sounds about right, I just got my quote yesterday from Panerai to full service my 232 for about $800.

Sorry that I am a bit late to the party posting this, but I hope this helps......

The previous owner had my recently acquired PAM 104 serviced through an independently owned Panerai Boutique in Sol CA. It was $715 for a full service and was preform by a very reputable boutique/watchmaker. When sold to me you could not tell the difference between BNIB and the freshly serviced. They did a great job on the polish. Turnaround time on the service was less then 2-weeks, which I thought was very reasonable.

Plus, a month later I noticed a piece of debris inside the dial. They paid for shipping both ways and turnaround time was 3-days total.

Yes thats the right price. Let them try to buff out the scratches before telling them to replace the bezel.

I had a problem with my 359 on full wind the watch was running very fast (+30/24h) it seemed also that if the watch was left sitting on desk it would run rather accurately but if I wore it the precision went quickly south, dropped it off at AD on 19th November from where they send it to service center in Munich, it was back 4th December but after 2 days on wrists the problem wasn't fixed and I was back at my AD, the watchmaker there put it on timing machine and laughed saying that it is in need of service so off to Munich again. Not exactly the best experience with Panerai service center...

I've had that exact problem with my last five Panerai. Anything with the 3 day 9000 movement did just what you're describing. I have a 422 (I think the 3000 movements are a 9000 derivative or vice versa) at the moment and on a full wind it will run about 5-6 seconds an hour fast but only for the first couple of hours then it slows right down so it averages 1 second a day fast over three days. I believe the movements are prone to banking on full wind which is a problem with an auto because if you are active it could be fully wound most of the time. I would suggest averaging it over ten days if you haven't already and if it's in single digits a day leave it alone.

I am glad I wasn't exactly wrong with my assessment, I am sad to hear that it is rather common problem. I would honestly settle if it ran within 15s on full wind but I think this is unacceptable. Before service it was around +20s a day on max wind with +12 on consequent days, so when it came back and I was on +35 after first day I felt pretty horrible, not to mention the watchmaker at AD indicated that it does need service, the warranty expires on 24th so hopefuly they will come up with appropriate solution.
