Discount when purchasing 2 watches & an engagement ring

Hi guys, been lurking around here for a while whilst trying to figure out my next watch purchase to mark a recent achievement. I'd narrowed my choice down to either a speedy pro or a date just ii and then managed to justify buying both of them together.The Rolex can be a reward for my achievement and the omega can be bought with the insurance money I got following the theft of several watches during a break in at my home. I lost 5+ watches, buying 2 back is only fair!

I'm also planning on purchasing my Gf of 5 years an engagement ring. The ring she likes luckily happens to be from a jewellers that is a Rolex & Omega AD. I thought I could use this opportunity to see if I could get a decent discount when purchasing all 3 items together. If they don't offer me anything significant I'll buy the ring and source the watches elsewhere.

What type of discount would you push for if buying 3 items together from an AD?

With watches like the DJ you should be able to get 15% off especially on the TT watches as for the Omega have seen as high as 25% plus off retail.But it all come down to your bargaining skills cash is king today good luck on your engagement.

I'd expect no less than 20% on the Ring. Here discounts of 30% on Jewelry are commonplace. (depending on brand of course, I guess Cartier for example does not give discounts on jewelry)

Difficult to say on the watches. This will also be much on the price of the ring. 20K Ring? I would expect a great discount as you're spending 30K euro!

But as Padi says, 10 to even 30% on the watches.

I wouldn't try and push anything, I would first hear the jewelers offer. Then you should start negotiating.

The ring itself will be around £5000. She has quite dainty fingers and anything we've seen over that price looks humongous and almost like costume jewellery on her finger.

I was planning on pushing for a 20% discount across the board. On a £14,500 purchase, this works out at approx £11,600. Is this an unlikely discount?

£5000 doesn't tell us about the size, only about the budget. You can buy a 4ct diamond or it won't be enough for a 0,6ct diamond, all depends on the specs.

I highly recommend either asking here w/ full spec of what you're getting, or registering to one of the specialist gemstone forums. I've seen people pay 5k for a ring that is not worth 500 (CE crap etc).

I'd say 20% on the watches, 30% on the ring.

But hear their offer first. Ask what they can do for you. Tell them you have been shopping around, but ready to close right now on a good deal.

Discount on the ring depends on the stone. Cert diamonds are like SS Rolexes, they have a pretty consistent price all around the world. Make sure you are paying for the quality, not some brand name.

Unless you're in a mad rush, best general advice is be willing to walk away. Their offer will always stand and you have more power as the buyer. There are so many options out there for you.

it also depends on the ring manufacture if its a tacori or jb star or roberto coin you may not see a huge discount. also depends on where the ad is.

in the virgin islands: omega ive bought at 37% off, most on a rolex has been 33% i've been told thats a pretty hard limit off for any rolex and the ad was a client.
