Day-Date nickname President referring to watch or bracelet

Rcently had a discussion on another online media regarding this topic... Seems there are different opinions as to wether the nickname "President" relates to the Day-Date model iteself - Or to the bracelet it was initially supplied with...

At least to me the term PRESIDENT has always related to the watch and not the bracelet..

Your thoughts?

It's refers to the bracelet. But today it means the whole watch in slang terms.

Just the bracelet in my eyes, either the President or the Oyster.

In Rolex terminology, the three piece semi circular bracelet reserved exclusively for DD and the ladies DJ is called the president bracelet (only ever made in precious metals) . In popular media/slang/nicknames the presidents watch refers to the DD as a whole, and the term is more often associated with their yellow gold option with champagne dial, which was depicted as the presidents watch!

Lyndon Baines Johnson named the watch. There's a photograph of LBJ sitting next to a television with his arm draped over it so you could see his Day-Date and Pope Pius X happened to be on the screen of the t.v., and LBJ signed the photo, "It's God, Rolex, and the President... not necessarily in that order".

LBJ loved [the Day-Date], and he's the guy that named the watch. This is the President's watch. And we started calling it 'the president'... the president's day-date.

It's a president bracelet but IMO it refers to the entire watch.
