RO question
hi all, I would like to understand something that I have seen many times and that I cannot explain to myself, this watch seems to be in good condition, according to them never polished, but on the third pic on the bottom of the case especially on the side where the number is the metal seems completely worn out, how the hell is that possible, we're talking about a part of the watch which when is worn can't have any contact dings, scratches or bumps, how in the hell can it get so worn out?
I've had a few watches for many years, even one or 2 for around 20 years, well on that part they are fine, but on the outer part they have their fair share of scratches, the exact contrary to this one and I've seen it in many occasions and never could get how that's possible, anyone care to explain would be welcomed. Thanks guys https://www.chrono24.com/en/audemars...-id3748687.htm |

It looks like it needs a damn good clean to get rid of the previous owner’s ‘smegma’.

Well I can't imagine how a shop could put a pic of a watch which hasn't been cleaned so for me it has to be the metal which is damaged, but if so by what as apart from taking a chisel and digging in can't imagine how something could damage it at that part...

Resellers, commercial and individuals alike, can be right lazy buggers, and will want to get something up ASAP, before worrying about cleaning it prior to dispatching or collection.
As the areas affected are prime for such build-up if one doesn’t thoroughly clean their watch regularly, I’m more inclined to think it’s nothing that a good proper cleaning won’t put right. |

Apparently that’s what it is – I phoned and asked.
Now that it’s been pointed out, they indicated that they will clean it, and retake the photo. Price, in case anyone’s not been completely put off, is $39K, before haggling commences. |
