New Menber wanting to validate whether or not my watch is genuine
Hello. Thanks for reading my post. I was given a "Rolex" by a friend and am not sure if indeed it is real. I have removed the band and engraved between the lugs at tha12 o clock position is "BREVET 6284' and at the 6 o clock position is 571-74 STAINLESS STEEL. ON THE STEM IS THE Rolex Crown with a Plus (+) mark under the crown. Enclosed is a picture of the face of the watch. I would appreciate any input anyone may have.

Occ Swiss only dial, leaf hands, rolex crown and standard case. Radium burn consistent with age. Not very valuable and I've never heard of one bring faked. Correct model number, fairly easy to tell after you see enough of them

Some old plastic crystals gave off a gas when they deteriorated, this would then react with dial and hands.
I have seen several pocket watches with the hands completely corroded, and the movement showing no signs of moisture, when the crystal had turned yellow. Last edited by MILGAUSS88; 3 January 2016 at 10:54 AM.. Reason: . |

These are never faked, not valuable or collectible enough

All looks consistent with a honeycomb dial with moisture damage, looks genuine overall

Thanks for all the comments
I appreciate all of the comments. As I have never owned a Rolex before does anyone know what can be done to repair the "sea urchin" dial?
