Thats good you made the paper, John. Hopefully this will bring enough attention to the problem to make the officials do something about it.

Hey John, this letter could have been written by me (I'm a regular in the Editor's Section of my newspaper). And that red tape sounds all to familiar, same here. I would have just killed and buried them but that's illegal I guess. The next time you have your picture taken, think of that Dutch clogger and you'll smile!

I think that is brutal that they don't let you take care of the problem yourself. Hell, you have to live with that smell, you should be able to fix it.

I know I look pissed. The photog asked me, "are you happy about this problem?" Obviously no, so I used some method acting and imagined how I felt the first time the stench permeated the house and came up with that look.

BTW, that's also the look I give ADs when they say something I know is blatently wrong. It's also the look I give my wife when she asks to drive, and also the look I give C when she is having a fit in public.

I agree that if the gov't isn't going to do anything I should be able to resolve the problem the way I see fit. However, it's illegal to discharge a firearm withing the city limits (there goes my .22 hopes) and if I killed one, I could be charged under the cruelty to animals section of the criminal code.

However, I have been spiking their bait with rat poison and also dropping ham fajitas (inside is rat poison) into their holes.

Turns out I'm going to be interviewed on CBC radio in the next day or two with a city by-law officer on the other end. This should be fun!

Give em hell Johnny. I bet if one of those skunks were doing the same thing to a local politican's house, they'd be gone real fast.

Funny you should say that. When I was in Lisbon and the Algarve, pork-chops who approached me (mostly to ask if I wanted to buy chronic) first spoke to me in Dutch, then switched to German, then asked me if I was from Norway. Strange people those Portuguese... they don't know what a stereotypical Canadian looks like. LOL
