Making a Murderer on Netflix...
anyone watch this? always difficult to watch something like this given that you know it is undoubtably made with some sort of bias, but Christ, this was disturbing. fantastically done and heartbreaking all the same.

Finished episode 3, like a real life Fargo. Bias? Can't judge that until I finish the series.

I think it called "Making a Murderer." I was just reading about it and wondering if it was any good.

Just finished watching the entire thing last night with my wife. All I can say is that I am glad I don't live in Manitiwoc County, WI. That appears to be one hell of a crooked law enforcement place. Let's assume for the sake of argument that there is a complete bias on the part of the film makers. What happened here is completely the inverse of what our legal system purports itself to be. In other words, on two occasions (3 if u include Dassey) the accused was guilty and had to prove innocence instead of the other way around. The DA and LI were allowed to try their case in the media before the actual trials in an effort to taint the potential jurors before an actual jury was ever selected. No rational judge would have allowed such a complete shitshow to take place if he were actually trying to give these people a fair trial. There are so many injustices spread across many years and trials that even if you assume a bias, it was clearly outweighed by the preponderance of the evidence.
Several of these legal clowns got was coming to them like that Walrus looking baffoon Ken Kratz. Got himself all tangled up in a sexting scandle showing his complete lack of a moral compass. The two convicted people deserve a fair trial in a place outside of the area where this all happened with untainted jurors.......at a minimum. There is no doubt in my mind that evidence was planted and that the whole thing was staged. I mean who commits a murder and then hides the vehicle and the body on your own property when you know everyone in the state is looking for the body and the car? Zero motive and zero DNA tying the crime to him. If what they said had actually happened, there would have been DNA all over the trailer and garage. There's no way these two simpletons would have been able to clean up the mess to that degree. It's simply didn't happen. Wisconsin has some explaining to do. |

I'm tending to agree with you, from what information we were provided. Also for what had occurred, the timeline doesn't add up. Lots of unanswered questions, but definitely a few very corrupt people involved.... |

What happened to Dassey is unconscionable. Kid never had a chance and he is innocent, no question. It really puts things in perspective. No matter what petty worry most of us stress over, 99% of those posting on this forum were born with winning lotto tickets compared to this poor family and people like them.

I have seen 3 episodes and I believe the Avery's is not the sharpest knifes in the box. But there are many questions that needs a answer.

I'm on episode 9, very disturbing. My wife and I have watched it for the last few nights, very hard for me to sleep after. Seems weird, but just get emotionally spent after watching.

I watched it. Horrific abuse by law enforcement.
There is a petition to free Steven Avery currently online. As of this morning it had over 260,000 signatures. It looks like his only avenue left is Presidential pardon. This man needs justice. |

Wow people, the list of key pieces of evidence that jurors heard but are left out and/or glossed-over in this so-called "documentary" is out there. The series only shows what it's creators wanted you to see, so if you're into armchair juroring at least avail yourself of all the other freely-and-easily gotten information about ALL the evidence instead of being led by the nose right where the producers of a TV show emotionally want you to go.
It's not an avenue at all, since the President doesn't have the power to pardon anyone except those convicted of a Federal crime, which Avery was not. This is what I mean. Those coming up with and signing a petition for Obama to do something about it don't even know and (worse) can't even be bothered to check who the right person to petition is. That's just being intellectually lazy and jumping due to emotions, but this is, after all, the result those who produce propaganda seek. |

You're kidding right? Like the film makers admitted, they didn't film or make a point of every piece of evidence because nobody is going to watch a 60 hour documentary I have yet to see any evidence that wasn't mentioned in the documentary that would be the nail in the coffin for Avrey but what anyone with a clear mind saw in the series is that there is enough evidence to put reasonable doubt in any jurors mind not to mention that there is something wrong the the law enforcement community in that shit hole county. We watched it in 2 days and was one of best documentaries we have even seen. It certainly will strike a chord with most!

I finished this last night.
What a fantastically made documentary! I obviously won't ruin it for anyone that hasn't finished/started it yet but all I can say is watch it and watch it all. I would highly recommend not looking anything up about the case and watch it with no prior knowledge.

I've read that evidence. It still doesn't make up for the total lack of DNA evidence and so much of the abuse by law enforcement.

And what say you re the Presidential pardon? How much weight is someone supposed to give to the legal opinions of those who don't know or bother to find out that basic legal fact, whether it be 1 person's or his/her's + 260,000 just like him? |

But really, your biggest concern if you left legal-eagle Texas and lived up there shouldn't be some Netflix-based fear of it's legal system, it would be swapping the cowboy boots for some Pacs and the hat for one that covers the ears, especially this time of year. You know, the kind of gear even those Wisconsin "hillbillies" have the sense to wear. |
