Thinking about getting my first AP

I've been toying with the idea of getting my first AP. I went to the boutique in Manhattan to try a couple on. To my surprise....the 41mm Royal Oak actually fit my wrists better than the 39mm one. I have pretty small wrists at 6.25 but I automatically assume the 39mm RO would fit me right away but boy was I wrong. The case and bracelet was very stiff and it kind of hung on the side of my wrists. The bracelet did not hug my wrists the way that I like. When I tried on the 41mm RO it actually fit a lot better. The bracelet was not as stiff and it actually hugged my wrists a lot better. Does anyone have the same experience when comparing the two different sizes? I'm looking to get a simple blue dial 15202 or 15300. Which do you guys prefer?

Similar experience for me with the ROO 44 vs 42
The 44 sat on my wrist better
I think it's due to different angles of the lugs, with the 44 lugs coming off the case at an angle more perpendicular to the case

Same here the 44mm felt much more balanced on my wrist compared to a SS and RG 42 didnt sit as well

I have your same wrist size and I have noticed the same thing when trying the 15400 (41 mm). The bracelet hug my wrist perfectly but the watch felt a bit big on my wrist (or was very present) but I loved it. I tried the 15202 (39 mm) twice: the first time I thought the same as you, the bracelet was very stiff and didn't hug my wrist properly; the second time I tried it the salesperson held it tight so it felt like it is hugging my wrist and the watch looked great on my wrist! Now I am truly confused, as previously I dismissed the 15202 because of the bracelet and wanted to purchase the 15400. But after the last time I tried the 15202 I changed my mind again and decided that 15202 is the one. I am travelling to Paris this week and will try both models again, I will also try to ask if they can properly size the 15202 bracelet so I can make my mind... Will keep you posted...

Let me know how it goes! My heart wants to go with the 15202 but if it doesn't fit properly then I can't pull the trigger. I was hoping that once all the links were sized it would fit better but part of me thinks that is wishful thinking.

What are the differences between the 15300/15400?

IMO, you are better off with the 15300 than the 15202 for your wrist size. The 15202 doesn't bend as much at the lugs. Good luck!

Ah, I've had some many internal debates with myself! I'm glad someone else has these "what do I do moments" lol. Good luck, I love the blue dials! Seriously considering a ROC boutique edition with the blue dial.

I always have this 'what do I do moments' when it comes to 15202 vs 15400!

I had the same quandary. Went to NY boutique and looked at 15202 and 15400 blue.

15202 was a bit dressy for me so I went with the 41mm 400.

Doubt you saw the 300 as it is out of production.

If you did try on a 15300 with the old "AP Style" deployant I can see that being the case. Before they moved to the current butterfly style, there was definitely an issue of the bracelet fitting comfortably on smaller wrists (myself included). Other members have switched the deployant around to make it fit better on a smaller wrist. Good luck with the decision!

If the 41mm fit you better I would suggest holding out to find a blue dial 15400. I know they can be hard to find. Last time I was in NYC the boutique didn't have that or a 15202. I called a few others and they were not in stock either. I ended up with a silver 15400 and I love it.

This is a hard decision because I know deep down I'll only be satisfied with the smaller 15202 so I don't want to "settle" with the 41mm just because it fits better.

Same here. Deep down I want the 15202! I am hoping if it gets properly sized the bracelet will look fine. Let's wait and see...

Here is my blue 15400. I have also tried on the 15202 and love it for what it is. Love the history and the visual of that movement. However, the 15400 always felt more solid to me, and of course the 15202 was also more money (but not the deciding factor).

I've been told that once you resize the links on the 15202 it will fit the wrist a lot better. I only wish I had the opportunity to try this out without buying the watch first

You cannot go wrong with either 15202 or 15300. Given the 15300 is discontinued you might need to search little longer.
