**MODEM BURNER, SORRY IT'S NOT IN THE TITLE!**

Alright, a few weeks ago or so I made a thread about The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the Calgary Stampede.
Every year, in the first week of July, lasting for ten days, Calgary goes country and hosts a score of Stampede Pancake Breakfasts, and at our Stampede grounds have a huge array of fantastic rides, great foods, and tons of free entertainment. There are also a lot agricultural events, and today I watched the Stock Dog finals in the Saddledome, where the Calgary Flames play hockey. There are tons of horses, cows, sheep, goats and other farm animals on display, as well as a lot of educational things to go to so people could learn how farmers and other people in that field do things for Alberta, and for export around the world. There is also a famous, very big rodeo with Chuck Wagon races and everything else that rodeos have (I've never been to a the rodeo, so I can't describe it much!), and at night there are shows put on by a group of teens/adults on a stage (I've never seen that either, sorry!) As well, there is an outdoor stage that has a different band play on it every night. Other the years, I've seen The Tea Party, Our Lady Peace, and many many others. There are fireworks each night to top it all off. It is my favourite time of the year, and I am so excited to share it with everyone.
I am going three times this year, today, Friday, and Sunday with Aadil. There is absolutely nothing at the Stampede that is "healthy", and I indulged in a small corn dog today, as well as a new addition to the Stampede this year, deep-fried oreos. They were suprisingly good, as they were soft all the way through and very sweet. I also had an ear of roasted corn (no butter!

) and I'm looking forward to trying some whipped pineapple ice cream on Friday.
Other things to eat at the Stampede include: A lot of Alberta beef and bison products, corn dogs, hot dogs, pizza (and pizza on a stick this year, basically a calzone with a stick in it), funnel cakes, churros, nachos, mini-doughnuts, pickles (random, I know), flat pieces of dough that are deep fried and covered with your choice of powered sugar, sweet apples, or sugar and cinnamon, fries, lots of sausages from all over the world, deep fried Twinkies, beignets, taco in a bag (I have no idea what that is, it's new this year), bubble tea, cookies, frozen chocolate-coated bananas, crepes, gyros, and even deep fried Coke and deep fried macaroni.

Also, a lot of beer, and other alcohol around!

And there is also the Indian Village, with authentic tipi's, where you can go into them, learn about different traditions, watch tipi raising races, and even pow wows. You can also eat bannock, some kind of fire made bread.

Thanks, Jason. A lot of Calgarians try to get away from here during these magical ten days, I couldn't imagine being anywhere else!

Are they still having the chuckwagon races after what happened last year? Man, that's a dangerous looking sport for man and beast.

The chuckwagon races continue. Last year's accident, while horrible, wasn't the first and won't be the last. Occupational hazard.
