Passinate about Rolex brand
I see a lot of you guys are passionate about the rolex brand. I'm curious to know why you guys here don't work in the sell of the watches. You can help inform others plus you could get discounts and know the brand inside information.
I'm not sure if a location offers part-time employment but I'm sure if your passionate about a brand it would be easy to work with them. I'm passionate about fitness, so I told a part time at a ymca. I only work once a month but I get the insides on fitness training and a free membership. |

I know...I'm wondering why Rolex hasn't called and offered me a job.
Totally mystified. |

I feel a good salesman would also need to be impartial to their own personal bias...and as you see on this forum, many people are just as passionate about their biases as they are about Rolex! |

I think the passion would wear off pretty fast if you were stuck behind a Rolex display case all day.

Exactly. Or just imagine all day you have customers coming in asking "Do you have any Batman in stock?" or "Is it safe to <insert various activities> while wearing this Rollie?".

I saw the commission at Adler's over the weekend on my 12k daytona. She made $360 and I seriously doubt she sells that volume on a daily basis so I think I'll stick with my daytime job. As others have stated, I think a lot of the passion would be lost as well.

I love chocolate cookies too, but I don't want to work at a bakery either.

i know right? it's sad when i walk into an AD to look and know more than the employee. I once had an employee in vegas try to tell me how my sunburst bluesy (purchased may 2015) was the discontinued model lol...in my local AD, they tried to tell me how the blue parachom spring in the daytona was better than the non-blue parachrom.

It sounds like you want to get a job at an Ad after the last post give it a try.

Most people here have way too much money to work for Rolex. Every other day I see a thread, incoming Platnium DD or Platona :)

Great thread though... This idea I have not seen..
..makes me wonder if AD salespeople get commission, like car dealers... Most likely not though |

All high end luxury brands pay their employees commissions, and it is not at all uncommon for most employees to double and triple their salaries because of those commissions. I am intimately familiar with employees at two such brands and know that in good years they were collecting very decent six figure salaries.

I would love to work part time at a Rolex AD but I do not think I would survive for more than a day in retail. I have done retail in the past and it is part of the reason why I decided to build my own thing from scratch and I have never looked back.
The amount of time I spend at my Rolex AD on weekends should warrant some form of compensation but quite frankly, I'm there for the watches and the espresso. |

They do say if you do a job you love you never work a day in your life, but I agree with others retail is a slog esp for Rolexes with so many missed sales it must be pretty disheartening. I think tho it's probably a great idea for a young kid, esp part time.

I worked in retail for far too long, I would not go back. I would, however, be interested in taking the independent route, like Kirill - just check out his IG for inspiration https://www.instagram.com/lunaroyster/

I thought about getting a job at an AD and seeing how I'd do. The problems is when I look at AD prices and think of gray market prices I couldn't do it: "Yes we are asking $75,000 for that Platona but at DavidSW....". Wouldn't work. Plus retail in general is a tough gig whether you're selling Rolexes or clothes at the Gap.
And to answer a question from a previous post, which I will answer there if I find it again. At my AD I asked the sales guy how he chose the Rolex he was wearing. He said he had just bought it and did get a good discount, but mostly the AD (at least the one where he works) has models set aside for the sales people to wear. Typically SS Subs and GMT's. |

I think it would be fun, but only as a part time gig where I really did care about the money. Or maybe when I retire. I worked on commission when I was young and while I did "Good" it was a grind. I would not want to put food on the table via commissions at this point in my life.

I think the collector mentality is actually pretty far from the salesman mentality. Also, most salesman probably cannot afford what they are selling. If you are lurking around here, with a few nice pieces, you are probably pretty gainfully employed as it is

I think I'd love it.
If I did not want any additional requirements to my schedule, if ask my ad if I could work on Saturdays.
