Misplaced watches...

I am getting on a little and the brain is not as quick.

I worked for 30 years in the police, the majority of time in criminal investigation roles. In my early service I attended numerous burglaries and when ever someone had a safe, the offender either stole it, or made one almighty mess trying to get it out or open!

Thus when I go away I remove objects from my home, hide them and leave the safe open.

I always hide them in places that I think that I can remember. I should learn. Last year I misplaced my Blue Black - I found it three months later in the dry pasta...
together with my Montblanc!

Today I have spent 2 hours searching for my Tudor Blackshield... I even looked in the safe! Somewhat relieved, the watch was located in a footstool! I now recall putting it there.

The search continues however, as this week, I have misplaced a Porsche key and one of my BMW keys. I would love to blame my wife, however i have so much previous, I just receive the cold look and a shake of her head.

Now where is my wallet?

First, you should hide your watches at my house, as I will remember where they are. Second, you should sell your safe. Clearly you aren't using it, and it takes up space.

I lost my sunglasses on my forehead this morning. Looked everywhere in my office and finally found them when I bent over and they fell to the floor.

I feel your pain. It's happening more and more to me each day. Perhaps try a bigger safe. Something a robber would have to tear half the house down to get out accompanied by a good alarm system. That should slow things down enough until the police show up.

Haha thats quality, not as bad but i always used to lose my phone in the ceilings of buildings when using it as a torch when lifting up ceiling tiles

I have hidden items, while drinking now I can only recall thinking, this is a great spot no one will ever think of looking here - where my sober self has no idea!

I have a bad habit of forgetting where I hide things and my wife took notice of this when she found my emergency stash in an interesting container.

Now she asks that I send her a password protected excel of the hiding spots each month in case I suddenly drop dead.

Try putting a post-it in your wallet; update it with location info every time you "hide" a watch.

When it turns up missing, you only have to remember your wallet!!

As a last resort, place the post-it on your forehead and secure it with a push pin. The blood dripping in your eye will remind you that it is there!!

My wife has things stolen.... "oh it must have been stolen!" when she can't find an item.

The children surprised her for a birthday a number of years ago... c/o dad... new ear rings, perhaps £100, showing her enthusiasm, out with the diamonds, in with the new ones, diamonds in box, box in... you guessed it... the bin!

Thus an embargo on things going into the bin when I have .... hidden something.

Strange you should say that... Mrs. Kevan asked me on a number of occasions what was wrong with me, I eventually confided in her, her response..."It will turn up!" and sure as eggs is eggs, it did.

A friend of mine wore his GMTii out on the boat and went swimming. When he got back on the boat he realized that the crown was open and water made its way inside the case. He had a few drinks throughout and day and night and forgot that he put it in a bag of rice at home. He spent 2 weeks looking for it and eventually found it when he went to cook dinner one night.

I found a solution. Getting a deposit box or invest a few thousand on a TL30/TL60.

What is a TL/30 or TL60? When I google it comes up a guitar! I hide stuff all the time and forget where I hide the stuff I hide all the time, until I find it!

Take a picture of your hiding place with your cell phone and label it. When your watch ends up missing and there is a picture of a foot stool you'll be all set; as long as you remember to look at your pics on your cell phone. And don't lose your cellphone!

I hide stuff in what I think will be easy to remember spots before we go on vacation.
Always forget.
Next vacation I'll be sending myself an email with what is where....and I ain't even 40 yet lol

It's happened to the best of us.

However I have a large gun safe UPSTAIRS in my house. If the burglars can get past the police dog and move the million lb safe, they are more than welcome to its contents. Lol.
