I wouldn“t consider it a leak. My AD told me about the upcoming 5% price increase two weeks ago, it was already official then.

No, the lists had not arrived yet directly after the holiday season. No point in handing out new price lists while the old one is still valid, though. My AD was already informed by Rolex about the price increase of around 5% at that time and just passed on that info to me.

Yes, I was referring to Germany only.

But it“s probably the same for other EUR countries.

Yes but everyone's investments just went up in value

Now they can ask for more discounts from AD's

And fuel the grey market even more

What a world.

Is this a Euro v CHF currency adjustment or is it a full normal increase and will it be the same in UK, USA etc?

I think Rolex need to be careful here, especially with the way the Chinese economy is and the current knock on effect on world markets.

They are in danger of pricing themselves out of reach of their usual customer base.

I know a price increase hasn't happened for a good few years but that's because if anything, there should have been a slight drop in prices.

The Russians and Middle East aren't doing any better than China with oil prices in the tank. Outside the US, that's pretty much the big 3 in luxury sales.

Indeed. The price increase isn't really connected to anything... Looking at the worlds markets we have deflation or stagnation of prices of pretty much everything.

The Rubel for instance has declined from a pretty stable rate of around 30 rub / 1 usd to 84 rub / 1 usd today! I don't even want to think how much a Rolex costs in Russia in Rubel at the moment. I guess it's close to 2,5X the price little over a year ago.

Price adjustments due to currency variations are known in advance by the ADs. They are given a new list several days or weeks in advance. However, price increases from Rolex SA across the board that affect all markets are kept secret. Those are only know the day before by the ADs. We haven't had one of those in quite some time.

THIS. I was recently informed by the AD in Oslo that there was a moderate ~5% increase in prices in October 2015 due to currency adjustments. The same AD is expecting a 6 to 8 percent increase around the time Basel rolls around. Given the current state of depressed currencies in many markets, a price increase (based on currency adjustments and new, standard price updates) is inevitable.

Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't rolex pushed upmarket during down economies. I think we should understand the upper middle class has been decimated and Rolex will likely target upper class who have much more money, thus the prices will be much higher.

A sub used to be what a few hundred dollars, and in the early 90s a few thousand?

Nice, watch sales last year are down for 1st time in a while... HK anti corruption laws hurt sales in HK by 30%.
Millennials want smart watch.
At least they still way cheaper than the Patek SS models and they look way better (Rolex sports models) .

I'm obviously not a fan of these price increases and think it's getting ridiculous (same for Omega) but if you have are able to spend this amount on a watch, is it going to hurt you to spend this much more?

I don't get what the problem is. A lot of goods have annual price increase. It's not like Rolex is life essentials like other goods.

Well - there might be exceptions to the rule.

It will be interesting to see when Rolex thinks their price is high enough... Perhaps when the Sub is the same price as the Nautilus.

Ain't happening.
PP/AP will most likely increase at faster rate than Rolex.
