11613LB bezel update ?

Just dropped into my AD today to get my wife an Eternity ring. i hvae not been in an AD for 18 months or more. As i had cleared out my HUlK and Daytona i have a little room now.

I asked to have a look at a couple of watches they had in the display, WG gmt, blue black GMT and a bi metal sub judt arrived today.

I noticed that this 11613LB had a metalic dark blue ceramic Bezel and sunburst dial.

I know they had updated dial in 2013 but i thought the bezel had stayed they same.

Hi it originally started out with the flat smurf dial/bezel then Rolex changed it back to the sunburst blue, much like the original 16613lb. Glad they did, I think it is the nicest dial Rolex makes. If they had stayed with the flat blue I would have purchased a 16613lb or something else altogether. Mine says hello.

11613LB bezel update ?

The OP is talking about the bezel. The newer sunburst dial is darker but the bezel is still flat. The one on the Rolex website looks like it has a sunburst dial with what appears to be a sunburst bezel. It seems darker than the one you and I have.

I purchased my 116613LB sunburst in May 2015. I've noticed the bezel color varies with the lighting similar to the dial. There are times outdoors in the sun where it looks like a the flat blue. There are other times, mostly indoors, where the bezel takes on a much darker/deeper color of blue. Just my observations. Unknown if Rolex actually has changed it. Hope that helps.

If the bezel is now sunburst as well to match the sunburst dial, this will be a home run. I purchased this watch twice and sold it both times because I didn't like the flat bezel with sunburst dial combo.

I know what the smurf bezel looks like as i have nearly pulled the trigger on 2 ocassions now. Smurf / smurf when launched and back in 2014 Smurf / sunburst

This was definatley sunburst / metallic dark bezel ( not smurf)

Even the AD commented it looked different

But i cannot find any info from rolex

Just checked rolex all sunburst dials now appear to have a darker bezel

Can someone confirm

Interesting thread.

It would be very interesting if this did happen. Just checked the Rolex website and the bezels on the 116613 LB, 116618 LB and the 116619 LB and they appear to be slightly different. See attached below. The pictures on the website are never really an accurate representation of the real thing. May want to check out a TT LB in person to compare to my YG LB.

I am looking at the bezel on my 116618 LB as I type this and cannot remember if it differs from the bezel on my 116613 LB I used to have. Attached a couple of pictures too, but can't tell the difference. They do look the same to me.

My 116613lb sunburst is 1.5 years old and looks the same as the one on the Rolex site sitting here in the office. The bezel does change from lighter to darker deepening on the lighting. The dial does the same thing. I doubt they changed the color of the bezel. Even if they did the difference is so minor I'm sure they would get them mixed up at the factory just like the cyclops lol.

Btw the blue bezel almost glows under black light.

Something tells me Rolex uses series photoshop with these pics, the shadows, the way the bezel flutes line up, the alignment of the crown. Everything is just too identical.

I have a new LB on the way. My local A.D. says now it's an allocated piece of which they only get a few per year. It's supposed to be in by the end of this month. I can't wait!

Let us know if the bezel is sunburst or flat please! I'd like to see if they made any changes.

Can a ceramic insert actually be sunburst or metallic though? Metallic particles in the ceramic mix??
The older 16613LB had an aluminium bezel of course which looks way more like the sunburst Bluesy dial. I had a new 116613LB last year for some months and its bezel was definitely a plain colour of blue, no metallic flecks or any "burst " effect though it certainly did change colour in the light but in a different way to the dial. The Bluesy in any configuration is a feast for the eyes!

Never looked at it like that. Good question.
