Watches With Little to No Wrist Time
I am finding that I tend to wear one of my watches the most while the other watch remains at home. It got me thinking about what you do with your watches that do not get a lot of wrist time? Do you keep them for your collection, trade them in for another watch, or simply wear every once and a while?
Cheers! |

I wear them every once in a while, but I think trading them is the sensible solution, unless, of course, if you have some sentimental reason to keep them.
On the other hand a watch you're not wearing today may become one of your favorites again tomorrow. That's mainly what I've been telling myself...

I travel every week for work. Each time I leave I ensure I wear a different watch for the week. This allows an even rotation and works well for me.

Less is More!
I sometimes buy my watches on impulse. But if they don't get wrist time, they get traded. I would then have 'scratched the itch' with these unworn models, and I really look forward to something new. Eventually, your collection will consist of watches that you 'must' wear because you love them, and not those you 'should' wear just because they are in your collection

I never flip my watches. A few get almost no wrist time. They just stay on winders in case I decide one day to strap them on.

Flip them. If they aren't getting worn, they need to go.

A few years ago I splurged on a 6263...only wear it on special occasions, so gets very little wrist time. I would not sell it, will stay in my collection!

I have a nice tt date just that hasn't seen the light of day in years. It doesn't have a lot of value...so it sits

My datejust 2 gets worn very rarely due to the diamond dial being over the top for most casual situations. I brought up the idea of trading it in for something more casual that fits my lifestyle, but the wife was against it. It was also a wedding gift. Anyways, I think having one or two watches worn less often might be okay, but if the bulk of your collection is sitting, it might be time to consider phasing a few out.

I just keep a rotation going , when I put one on I have not worn in a while I get reminded of the reasons I liked and purchased it in the first place.

Same here. Have yet to ever sell a watch. It's a one way street for me. If I like one enough to purchase, it stays.

I consider my SS GMT my daily wearer and my TT DJ my dress-up watch. Regardless, I can and do wear either for any occasion or activity. Although the DJ gets less wrist time overall I don't think I would ever get rid of it. Regardless, sometimes just for fun I look at PM models and think about what I might get by trading in both my watches.

Once I bought the blnr 2 years ago, nothing has seen my wrist since. Sold every other watch, save for one. In the last two years all the following have been sold because I couldn't justify keeping watches that I had no intentions of wearing: "root beer" 16753, 116613 Lb, Planet Ocean 2500d and 8500, Daytona, and Tudor Heritage Chrono.
I have, however, kept my 114060 for some reason. |

Actually, I wear my watches on a rotational basis, so they all get pretty equal time. If I find myself wanting to pass over a watch in the rotation, it's time for it to go.

I am now happy having 4/5 watches in the rotation so if I add another I will most likely sell the one least worn or most similar.

Usually there is a reason I buy watches; unless I'm very wrong in my assessments I don't want to part with watches which were hard to come by in the first place.

I bought this watch new in 2007. The AD had this, a Pepsi and a Black side by side and while the Pepsi is the generally preferred model, I wanted the Coke since I was a kid. I have about 20 hours of wrist time, but I can't part with it yet.

I don't keep any watches I don't wear........they get flipped or just sold.
I have found that's what works best for me. All I currently own I wear in a rotation.....2 of which are birth year watches for my children. They will be passed down to them someday. |

Just rotate and fall in love with a watch you haven't worn in awhile all over again.
