Blueberry GMT - 1970s version vs possible 2016 version?
Hey - Longtime lurker first time poster. When I first saw all the posts regarding a Blueberry GMT I took it with a grain of salt. Thought it was cool looking but figured Rolex would most likely bring back a colored/multi colored bezel that had already been done before in the past, albeit in aluminum, like the Coke or the Rootbeer.
But then I did some research and it seems in 1978 or so Rolex did produce a black dialed blue bezel Rolex GMT and called it the "Blueberry". They seem to be rare. Unless someone just created a frankenwatch in the 19703 with a non-rolex blue bezel? But, the pictures on the internet when you enter "blueberry rolex gmt" bring up images of some rare vintage pieces. I haven't seen anyone actually point this out in the posts....but wanted to put it out there that at least in the past...Rolex did produce the GMT with a blue bezel so producing a newer version in 2016 with multi colors of blue wouldn't seem so out of the ordinary even though they still have other color combos like Coke and Rootbeer to do modern versions of as well. Thanks. |

There was a thread here about it last year by Danny...
Rare Blueberry GMT And also a link to the original article on Forbes.. http://www.forbes.com/sites/lukerott.../#1ed13a3b166d But yeah, seems like it's ultra rare. Btw, welcome to TRF, Jeffrey. |

Funny I was looking it up myself last night and spent a few hours reading about the 1970s "blueberry" gmt. I don't see much in the way of homage, similarity, or even an appreciable nod between what is being rumored to be this new "blueberry" gmt and the one from the 70s (single colored bezel and red "gmt hand" vs monochromatic bezel and blue hand)
That notwithstanding, I've now contacted my local ad about being on a not yet created list for a not yet announced watch because it will be on my wrist post haste once released. |

You'll find that all-red GMT hands and blue inserts are like unicorns and fairys, you have to believe.
Personally, I think the commonly told stories about both are probably true.

While I think that speculation is nice..
I don't expect there to be any "new" GMT.. They just released the much anticipated red/blue insert GMT and so I would think that they will have something planned for a different model.
